To force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using the Application Loader tool, complete the following steps:

1. Remove the battery from the back of the BlackBerry smartphone.
2. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer using a USB cable.
3. In BlackBerry® Desktop Manager, double-click Application Loader.
4. In the Application Loader wizard, click Next to start the loading process. The Device Application Selection screen appears, displaying the applications available to load onto the BlackBerry smartphone.
5. Select the check boxes next to the application that you want to load.Applications that are selected indicate that the application already exists on the BlackBerry smartphone. Clearing the check boxes will removed the application from the BlackBerry smartphone.
6. Click Next. The Completing the Application Loader Wizard appears, listing the applications to be installed and removed from the BlackBerry smartphone.
7. Click Advanced.
8. Click Erase all application data, and click Next.
9. Click Do not automatically backup the application data during the loading process. This option is selected because the data on the BlackBerry smartphone may be corrupted.
10. Insert the battery into the back of the BlackBerry smartphone.
11. In the Application Loader wizard, click Next to proceed with the loading process.
12. When the process is complete, the Application Loader wizard will display the following message: The loading operation was successful.
13. Insert the memory card, if applicable.
14. Close the Application Loader wizard.
