     dashqueue

There are many Netflix users out there, making it a higher demand for mobile access to your movie wish list (queue).  Still in BETA, SmartFlicks is available for BlackBerry phones at the moment providing you with all your Netflix access via mobile.  You can add all your DVDs into your queue on the go without having to go through the whole website on an actual PC.  The whole Netflix library is available for viewing and review by YOU movie viewers.  Entertainment news and information are available to see what’s hot and what’s not.  Lookinf for “coming soon” films and what the current movie times are? SmartFlicks will provide that as well.  In addition to that, it will give you GPS enabled directions to the theaters you want to see your movie in.  On Pyxis Mobile‘s website, they show an “interesting technical fact” stating:  ”this application was designed and delivered by a cross-functional team in under 24 hours with no coding and no compilation. It makes use of data from multiple data sources, and highlights a number of Pyxis Mobile 6.1 features including exploding rows, font control, in-line images, and graphical navigation.”

Slydial is a free voice messaging service which connects you right to someone’s voicemail.  It really comes in handy when you don’t want to sit and chat.  Ofcourse you could just send a text message, but what if you’re driving and in a rush?  ”Slydial” the number and leave a message instead!  On their website, they exemplify the common situations where you would need to “slydial” someone which is rather comical but very true!

Give your fingers a break, they say.  You need to get some pertinent, detailed information to someone quickly but you don’t have time for the idle chit chat that would certainly follow if you called them. Typing it all out in a text message would just be agony! Instead just leave a quick voicemail and your fingers will thank you.

Play the field more effectively.  You are dating quite a few people at the same time. You don’t want to leave them all text messages because there is nothing romantic about that. But a nice voicemail to each would score you points.

Don’t interupt her vacation.  Your boss is on vacation. You need to give her an update on what is going on in the office but you don’t want to disrupt her rest and relaxation. Too much information for a text message? Instead just leave her a quick voicemail with the 411 that she can check at her leisure.

Get your point across without interruption.  Upon your friend’s recommendation, you decide to go to a resort in the Caribbean. What she neglects to mention is that it is under loud construction. Leave her a voicemail so she can hear the disdain in your voice and take an apologetic stance when she calls you back.

Don’t cause a ten car pile up.  You are in your car on your way home. Normally you would maneuver through traffic as you text message people creating a potential recipe for disaster. Instead just leave a few quick voicemails so you stay between the lines and out of the emergency room.

As funny as it seems, all their posted scenerios can and do exist today with us.  Their marketing approach is indeed comical, but because it is realistic, we can’t disagree with them on the points they provide.  Check out the posted video which is one of their funny commercials.  Tune in to http://www.slydial.com/ for more info.

Twitter has grown pretty big over the years as many people joining love to blog on it updating their statuses.  As addictive as it has become, there are of course Twitter clients to download for your BlackBerry smartphone to stay wired on it 24-7.  They all have the same functions for the most part, but they have created in a way that the user will pick and choose what they like best.

twitterberry-posting

We all know about TwitterBerry which has been the primary and most simple application for Twitter users.  The platform is very straight forward too.  As soon as you open the application, it says ” What are you doing?” Then below you have room to type away whatever you want to post on to your Twitter and click “Update” after being finished.  It also has the convenience of telling you how many characters you have left to type.  When clicking your Menu button in TwitterBerry, the options listed are: Update, Friends Timeline, Get Replies, Direct messages, Public Timeline, My Timeline, Get Friend List, Sent Direct Messages, & Configure.  All functionalities of PC-based Twitter exist here.

bbtweet

We then discovered another program called BBTweet, which is not as popular as TwitterBerry.  They advertise it as “Twitter for your BlackBerry without the text messaging bill.”  People still tend to use it though and it is in beta.  It regularly goes through your Twitter account to find new messages and puts them into your BlackBerry Messages folder.  Replying back and forth is really simple.  Its functionalities are just like the Twitter via SMS, except you do not pay for the SMS here, if you do not have unlimited text messaging in your plan.

socialscope1

Now we see the beta soft release of the all new SocialScope which will become the #1 Twitter client, if they keep it up that is.  Obtaining your own copy is by invitation only at the moment due to testing and glitches that already exist on there.  On this client, it supports both your Facebook and Twitter at the same time.  It is optional to not use on or the other, but it is very handy to be able to update your status once, and have it go on both clients.  There are other empty tabs available now so who knows what other functions shall be added.  I am personally using both TwitterBerry and SocialScope at the moment, love them both equally only because SocialScope is still in beta, and TwitterBerry has been made so simple to use.

Check out all three here: TwitterBerry, BBTweet, SocialScope

sectera-edge

How expected of Microsoft to give in their two cents on Obama and his usage.  It is quite a slap in the face when Obama favors his BlackBerry over his Windows enabled smartphone given to him.  Microsoft argues that it is not safe for the President to be using his RIM device as his data is travelling outside the country to transmit and is not safe at all.  Outside the country being Canada of course.

“We wouldn’t want the casual musings or official communications of the most important person in the world being intercepted by others,” said Randy Siegel of Microsoft.  And you wouldn’t want him using anything that is not Microsoft branded either Randy.

sectera-edge11

All we’re saying is that he already has this super-encryption on his device, and it that wasn’t enough.  He stated he was using it to talk to a few friends (selected ones) and a few senior members, and that still wasn’t enough either.  The man needs to be left alone to use whatever device he feels suits him.

The story goes on in the Wall Street Journal of how their Microsoft based device is a lot safer to use and so forth.  It runs on CDMA and GSM wireless networks, as well as Wi-Fi which is also impressive.  The Edge is a smart phone that secures voice as well as data use. It was certified by the NSA in December 2007 but didn’t become available until this month, and the 12-ounce device costs about $3,350.  So it’s not so much your typical user friendly device available at a local T-Mobile store.

                        screen-greenscreen-1110

So you and your friends are standing in the middle of Time Square, with all the lights and action happening around you.  You don’t know where you want to go for the night, so then your Citysense application comes in handy.  It will use your GPS coordinates to find the closest ANYTHING around you.  Restaurants and night clubs are easily found through the program.  Never be bored again.  Unfortunately there is no support for the Bold yet.  It does open up and work on it, but it is a little laggy and displays blank pages occasionally.

So how does it work exactly?

Citysense is an application that operates on the Sense Networks Macrosense platform, which analyzes massive amounts of aggregate, anonymous location data in real-time. Macrosense is already being used by business people for things like selecting store locations and understanding retail demand. But we asked ourselves: with all this real-time data, what else could we do for a city? Nightlife enhancement was the obvious answer. This release is just a test, and we’re interested in your feedback on how to make the application better. You’ll find a feedback button in Citysense.

Currently supports: Pearl (models 8100, 8120, 8130), Gamma Ray (8800, 8820, 8830), Curve (8300, 8310, 8320, 8330)

berrystore mobile

berrystore screen shot

It is indeed launched and available for beta download at the moment.  We spent hours today analyzing its responsiveness and attributes.  So far so good.  There are not that many applications on there right now, but they will continue to increase as the days come.  Navigation tabs include Top Apps, Books & Reference, Business & Finance, Fun & Games, Lifestyle, News & Weather, Social Networking, Sports, Travel & Navigation, Utilities, and Web Shortcuts.  The category set up is great, and does not mislead you when searching for a specific category.  The program comes up right away, and there is no lag time when clicking tabs.  While viewing the applications, you’ll see that the majority of the applications are free while some others are demos available for purchase.  Download it here today OTA or link your mobile phones to m.berrystore.com

socialscope1

Today we received our version of the all new still in production SocialScope application for BlackBerry version 0.9.2.7.  It currently has tabs for both Twitter and Facebook at the moment.  There are three other tabs: one with an “@” symbol, another with a chat box that looks like Instango’s icon, and the other one is a tab that controls both Twitter & Facebook in one screen.  At convenience, it has been mad easy to update your statuses on Facebook and Twitter from one single interface.  The layout is very clean and program is definitely responsive.  Many will drop their TwitterBerry and Facebook app in a heartbeat after seeing this application, forget about it.
