Earlier this year in January, a new bill was introduced to Congress stating that camera phones will be REQUIRED by law to create a click or any other audible noise when they are being used to take photographs.  It is known is the Camera Phone Predator Alert Act, and it will prohibit a camera phone from being equipped with the disabling or silencing of the camera click tone.  It falls under the Consumer Product Safety Commission and is being looked at as a safety requirement.  Noises would be loud and clear so that anyone in a reasonable distance of the camera phone would be able to hear it.  How does you feel about it?

guys, there are real predators out there looking to research people, stalk them, find out info about them, that kind of stuff shouldnt be allowed. yes its a free country but we do have privacy and camera phones have unfortunately been abuse over the past couple years that they have been out for. this is definitely a move that has to be done, and enforced properly and thoroughly

sam i kinda agree with you but how on earth is this going to get enforced strictly? if i take a photo of my family in the park via my phone and it doesn't make a “click,” is a police officer in the “reasonable distance” going to penalize me? write me a ticket? take my phone away? no he's not. this law is just going to require the phones to have this noise enforcement put inside them, its not going to be something where they have cell fone police looking for those camera phone owners who dont have clicks for their picture taking capabilities!

you know the law makes sense, but im saying on the side, i do like taking kodak moments of my friends without them knowing and its going to be a tough road trying to do so now, and a damn shame if i cant.. ill just cough loud when the camera clicks..

its a crazy world we live in, it could be looked at both ways in perspective, but it's all for security reasons in the end.

The law is a good idea, and I wouldn't really mind much, its just that it seems a little blown out of proportion. I understand the purpose of the law, however its my phone and I would like to choose what options I can or cannot use..

Putting that law into effect is a waste of congress's time and our tax money. There's more important things congress can do with its time than worrying about camera clicks. Lets worry about things like that when the economy is booming :)
