After the Mumbai attacks, the Kerala State Police are now using BlackBerry devices to check the movement of intruders, traffic violators, and to control vehicle thefts in the city.  In addition the BlackBerry also assists the cops to help control crime in port city Kochi.  For experimental purposes, three BlackBerry handsets were issues to the inspectors of traffic in Kochi as a “pilot.”  Depending upon the success of the initiative, all the cops on the road may each get their own devices to use on the force.

viigo_storm

Apparently there has been problems with Viigo running on the Storm and so there has been an upgrade available.  One of the Storm users from our staff here has encountered several bugs and error messages and it has also been confirmed by BerryReview that such errors are happening.  Here is the message directly from Viigo:

If you are running Viigo on a Storm and you have version 3.0.710 of the app, please upgrade. The new release (3.0.861) has a number of important features and enhancements (especially performance) over that of the Alpha (3.0.710). To identify your version, go to Options -> About.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Users of 3.0.710 should remove Viigo from their device first before installing the new one.

You can get the new version from http://GetViigo.com from your browser.

Thanks

Team Viigo

os-461152-for-the-curve-8900

ll you addicts out there who are lucky enough to have the new 8900 Curve can upgrade your OS to 4.6.1.144 now.  Downloads were available earlier today, but have obviously been removed as being against MegaUpload “terms of use.”  If you guys find any links for it, feel free to post it.  I doubt there will be any, but we can wait the extra week for the next build which is rumored to be 4.6.1.152

do-you-want-to-see-through-buildings-use-beam-3d

This was something really cool I came across today.  It’s a new software system on your handheld that will display 3 dimensions where a particular person s in a larger building.  It’s called BEAM 3-D, if you recall the name from famous Hollywood films such as Enemy of the State and Mission Impossible television series.

ymailvvm1

YouMail’s all new visual voicemail is just not ready for the world.  The program has worked for many yet not worked for many as well.  I personally haven’t had any problems personally, but some of our beta testers saw errors in logging in and downloading voicemails such as the one pictured.  Oh well, looks like if you have AT&T, just wait for the new official OS with the built in visual voicemail feature.  As for all you other carriers; kick back and relax for a new YouMail to be released!

A few weeks ago, we covered about Fido getting their BlackBerry services back again.  Well they really did bring it back with the BlackBerry Pearl 8100, the first multimedia camera BlackBerry device.  Great phone, I would of suggested the 8110 or 8120 atleast..

sprint-logo1

And all along I thought AT&T was going to be the last carrier to get OS 4.5 !  Apparently we were wrong, and we see Sprint here getting the latest build of 4.5 months later after we see 4.6 and 4.7 floating around other BlackBerry devices.  Congrats to you Sprint users, you have waited longer than us at AT&T.  The update is for the 8130 and the 8330.  Tune into BlackBerry’s website for Sprint updates here.
