Apple iPhone App Store carries over 25,000 applications, how about BlackBerry?
by The PocketBerry Team
Upon launching in July 2008, the App Store for iPhone carried about 500 applications which many were submitted by developers making applications. In a time period of less than a year, that number grew well over 25,000.
Is BlackBerry off to a good start with the “App World?” There are many scattered applications out there for BlackBerry sure enough, but there’s no assurance of what is going to be included in the download center or not. Price restrictions being made at $2.99 does ruin the whole competition with the iPhone, and seems to be less appealing to the consumer than 99 cents did before.
The iPhone is one solid platform and the 25,000 applications are guaranteed to all work on the device. BlackBerry varies its models, and I am hoping that the App World will display compatible software for your device only, rather than the whole 9 yards. When thinking about single models in specific, the number 25,000 doesn’t seem so close anymore.
It’s going to be a real tough battle matching against what iPhone has to offer, but if you’re on the mailing list for the BlackBerry App World, stay tuned for more news on what’s going on!
