rim-building

RIM has just about doubled its market share of smartphones in the past year but has been pretty much helped by selling low cost smartphones like the Curve and Pearl Flip where Apple and HTC have often kept to selling higher-end devices that are less susceptible to pressure for price cuts.

Analyst Mike Burton of ThinkEquity stated and warned on Friday that RIM is most likely going to suffer on the verge of a price war against other  smartphone makers such as HTC and Apple.  He advised investors to sell their stocks immediately before the “price war.” Burton understands that carriers and competition are pushing even high-end phone makers like RIM, Apple and HTC to drop the prices on their phones and that RIM’s BlackBerries are likely to struggle without significant price cuts. Although the Canadian phone maker already has budget models as well as premium devices, these weren’t considered enough.

Burton mentioned “We think that even [RIM] with its multiple product cycles underway will have trouble growing in this environment,” Burton said. “To combat this decreased spending environment we believe that [RIM] will be forced into making more price concessions.”

vpost-berry

Some say it’s the most useful application made for the BlackBerry.  Others say it’ gives your device a new feel when it comes to sending attachments.  I say it’s the missing application RIM didn’t ever think to implement in their devices.

After two weeks of usage, we have decided that vPost is indeed the most useful application out there.  A lot of BlackBerry users end up sending attachments separately out of not knowing how to add additional attachments or just because it was easier.

With vPost, it provides the most user friendly platform seen in any application on the BlackBerry App market, while delivering a quality product with the best bang for your buck.

All different types of attachments can be put together into one email easily.  Feel free to send a photo with a personalized voice message and a video while you’re at it.  It doesn’t have to be media already saved either!  That’s right.  You can record a video/voicenote and take a snapshot picture all in the vPost application.  Then it will simply attach them in your message.  Want to send your GPS coordinates?  You can enable GPS and vPost will automatically include your coordinates in BlackBerry Maps and provide a link in your email.  Feel free to write your personal message along with the email and your good to go!

The application is only $9.95 to purchase and as you can see from what it does, it’s a great deal.

socialscope-for-blackberry

For those of you who have SocialScope I thought I’d let you know that it has been updated to version 0.9.3.6. I know some people already knew this because the application is supposed to prompt you when its updated but I for one received no such thing. Even though I did for the last update?! Anyways here are a couple of the updates made:

• Fix: Improved Connection Stability

• Fix: Improved Posting Speed

For those of you who have not yet downloaded this application ill give you a quick run down of what its all about.

SocialScope is a brand new app that extends Twitter and Facebook functionality right to your BlackBerry. Simple enough right! It is going to most likely put all of those twitter applications to shame, twitterberry better step it up soon! In twitterberrys defense it kind of is better in the sense that it is more available (SocialScope is a closed beta and you need to sign up using your email to get an invite).

Anyways, if you want to update your version of SocialScope click HERE and sign in. If you do not yet have it click HERE and sign up!

viigo

Hey all! I’m a brand new poster here at PocketBerry.com and have the luxury of bringing news of everyones favorite app, Viigo!

Today verion 3.0.861 was updated to version 3.0.892. This doesn’t seem to be a major upgrade seeing as how nothing was released from Viigo. The upgrade seems to address a small issue with adding Custom RSS feeds. Make sure to download the new version of Viigo at www.getviigo.com on your BlackBerry’s native browser!
