Now this is definitely some breaking news to all us BlackBerry users.  As soon as MetroPCS started spreading out across the US, everyone silently thought of the BlackBerry coming to the service, and the prices it would potentially come out for.  It turns out that this is a really good deal for everyone.  For $50, a BlackBerry user gets unlimited talk, SMS text, MMS, web browsing, and BlackBerry Internet Service.  There is no other carrier in the states that can offer this great deal.  The average AT&T user will pay about $80 per month to get a minimal voice plan with BlackBerry Internet Service.  Now think of MetroPCS where you will pay $50 and get all your services on your device unlimited.

“Today’s consumers are driven by value, performance and convenience and MetroPCS is extremely pleased to offer consumers a product that will allow the ultimate wireless experience,” said Roger D. Linquist, president and chief executive officer of MetroPCS. “This new addition to our handset lineup allows our subscribers to enjoy the advanced features and convenience they desire in a smartphone with an unlimited, flat-rate service that beats the competition in price.”

cointossapp

Don’t have change in your pocket?  Nickel Buddy Coin Toss is a nice little application that will flip a virtual coin for you.  It’s another one of those just for fun apps, but can get to be pretty serious depending on how much you rely on your coin tosses.  This app works for the BlackBerry Storm 9530/9500 4.7+ os.

Who are the biggest iPhone challengers?  US News reports that the BlackBerry Storm, Palm Pre, T-Mobile G1, and Samsung Omnia are the iPhone’s biggest challengers.

The BlackBerry Storm is first touchscreen model from Research in Motion in which had a lot of added fun to the standard BlackBerry we have all seen. The phone remains primarily about getting things done with its best-of-class E-mail, messaging, compatibility with Microsoft Office files, and battery life. The Storm offers good media software, and its camera can capture video. Overall, its software doesn’t match the iPhone’s applications for ease-of-use on a touchescreen. An applications store is still in the works. The clickable screen is a gimmick without much, if any benefit. The Storm also suffered from initial software glitches that have eased somewhat with updates.  It currently runs on Verizon Wireless here in the US.  Software updates are constantly being released to help resolve issues people are having.  It is assumed by many users that this BlackBerry Storm is still in its infantry and will become dominant over the iPhone soon enough.

It looks like Research In Motion will be going along for the ride as the world’s biggest rock band U2 begins its worldwide tour this summer.

U2 spoke briefly about its tour plans earlier this morning, mentioning its top sponsor, RIM’s BlackBerry. The new partnership between the band and RIM comes just a few years after U2 helped flog Apple’s iPod digital music player through a series of television commercials, which featured the band playing its song Vertigo.
