iheartradio_storm

After using iHeart Radio for a week, I’ve decided to keep it as the quality is amazing on it, and it doesn’t have to be on WiFi to stream fluently.  It’s different than Slacker and Pandora.  iHeart Radio is streams local AM/FM stations around the United States to your mobile phone.  Really neat!  The official build for the Storm isn’t out yet, but a beta link is available below!

To download iHeart Radio Beta for the BlackBerry Storm, point your mobile browser to http://iheartradio.com/blackberry/stormbeta.html

If you have any other BlackBerry, just point your device to www.iheartradio.com

mobilevisor

A few blogs have posted some opinions as to what they think of this mobile visor.  I don’t know what to make out of this new accessory for the BlackBerry.  I guess some of you really need to type away on your devices in the bright sun or just want to keep your BlackBerrys in the shade.  Sun block not included.

Rhomobile

Rhomobile’s open source mobile application framework Rhodes lets you quickly build native mobile applications for all smartphone operating systems: iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Android. These are true native device applications, which work with synced local data and take advantage of device capabilities such as GPS and PIM access.

Does this mean easier capabilities of creating applications for the BlackBerry?  Absolutely.  Will we see applications come out more rapid?  I strong believe so and with the BlackBerry App World coming out soon, we should see a lot of these folks submitting their great apps there.

We just finished posting about the Google Mobile App, and now we get to see a video somewhat in relation to it.

It just doesn’t seem to make sense at all, not to us at least.  BlackBerryCool has posted quite a funny video today, and we thought we’d share it with you guys as well.  I don’t have much to say about this, but watch and reminisce on it after.

xobni-logo-500-a

Xobni—inbox spelled backward—creates a tool that works with Microsoft’s Outlook and lets users quickly search the contents of e-mail messages, extract contact information, and track down attachments. Microsoft founder Bill Gates is said to be a fan of the application and praised it in a speech last year. The software has been downloaded some 2 million times, Xobni says.

As we count the days (perhaps weeks) until the BlackBerry App World releases, we wonder what else RIM has to offer besides this hefty investment to put Xobni in their devices.  Also, it will be good to compete with Apple’s new software upgrade which is definitely including copy/paste and other features.

Bringing Xobni to the BlackBerry device rather than just having it on a PC will really enhance the smartphone experience.  So will we see it available in the BlackBerry App World?  We’ll have to wait and find out.

Who would of ever thought?  Did you know that wireless messages sent on a BlackBerry are so hard to intercept that the smartphones have become the device of choice for both criminals and law enforcement?  That’s what police say at least.

While some police offiercs admit that level of security makes the BlackBerry their preferred handheld device, they also say that also makes it hard for them to listen in on suspected criminals.  You just can’t always be a winner.

“It does limit our abilities to intercept, which in turn minimizes our abilities to prevent the crimes,” said Supt. Pat Fogerty of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia, a division of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

The problem is that BlackBerry smartphones, designed by Waterloo, Ont.-based Research In Motion initially for corporate clients, run BES, which makes a secure, private network and encrypts data.

Police say criminals are using additional layers of encryption with other types of software, bringing the encryption level up to military grade.  Who said criminals aren’t smart?  Looks like they are outsmarting the police force.

“They completely know that this technology is to their advantage,” Fogerty said, “and they will stay on that technology until such time that there is new technology that will be even more secure.”

The bottom line is that law enforcement must find some way to be able to encrypt BlackBerry devices better, more efficiently in order to catch these criminals.  But what about all us other innocent people who just want our data private?  Is it a stake if the police technically can look into it?  There’s no winning.

pandoralogo

Looks like Pandora is already up for some updates a few days after its major launch.  Although there doesn’t seem to be any noticeable changes in the new build.  But what could we expect? It only went from v1.0.00 to v1.0.1 so there’s not much to look for, right?

The If you see any changes in this build feel free to drop us comment and let us know!
