go-to-blackberry-inside-home

It is pretty exciting to see RIM making big moves with all their new devices and options included in them.  Every day we tune you in with the latest and newest updates as to what’s new in the BlackBerry world.  Now RIM’s next step was taken, and that was creating an official BlackBerry blog! Although it’s titled “Inside BlackBerry,” the URL is http://blogs.blackberry.com/. InsideBlackBerry.com is taken over by a bunch of Sprint stuff, so don’t make the mistake going there.  There’s not much on the blog now, but more will be released as the blog grows some age.  Enjoy dear readers!

four-blackberry-fruit-white-background

Research in Motion called on Lexicon Branding to help name its new wireless e-mail device in 2001.  Calling their devices just “RIM” wasn’t cutting it at all and was not attractive to the customer in the least bit.  The consultancy pushed RIM founders away from the word “e-mail.”  Instead, they took the opportunity to search for a name that would bring joy and somehow give feelings of peace. After someone made the connection that the small buttons on the device resembled a bunch of seeds, Lexicon’s team explored names like strawberry, melon and various vegetables before settling on blackberry—a word both pleasing and which evoked the black color of the device.  Pretty clever right?  Even though we see BlackBerrys in different colors and shapes, it can still be called the BlackBerry just fine without any concerns.  PCWorld ran a great article as to how many of these big companies found names for their products and services.  Check it out here.

blackberry-pearl_01

As I was reading on ITWorld earlier today (I read it religiously every morning), I realized that they had a nice interesting post in regards to…. BlackBerry!  Basically its 4 tips that all managers should know.  I strongly beleive it’s good for everybody to know, corporate or not.  The first one is how to filter incoming mail to your inbox, prohibiting certain addressse at ease.  Second is changing the calendar views simply at the press of a button.  Third, there’s conference calling and the how to do’s for all its key functions from the BlackBerry smartphone.  That could be very useful for company executives making corporate work phone calls, and then again the common person would use it as well conferencing between 3 friends deciding what movie to watch on a Friday night.  Lastly is a nice tip about high priority email notifications.  All these tips were found useful to my knowledge on both the corporate and personal user for BlackBerry.  Click the more button to check out the top 4 tips!   (more…)

social_networking_sites

Cnet posted a nice article in regards to 13 BlackBerry applications for the social networker.  We have showed you all of these applications, but thought it was necessary to recap them all in one article at your convenience to browse them all at once!  At one point in life, we used cell phones to make phone calls and to get in touch with one another.  These days, phone calls are the last things we do with our cell phones.  We send text messages to one another, email back and forth fast as a text, send pictures of Kodak moments when close ones aren’t around, and share GPS locations with our peers.  Below is a list of a bunch of social networking applications available for the BlackBerry.  They are all free to download and use.  Enjoy!   (more…)
