BlackBerry App World worth the wait & hype?

Everyone generally seems to be excited over the App World releasing at midnight this morning.  I’ll admit, I was excited myself for it, more or so seeing applications such as Shazam unveil itself out of the blue.  That was a great suprise.  BerryReview shares some of the similiar insights as to why the hype was really for nothing.

So what’s missing from the App World?  Too many things now that we mention it.  First of all, there is no way to browse only free applications.  There are top apps, but the free ones are mixed in the bundle.  Even some free applications aren’t really free! They’ll say free, and end up being 7-14 day trials.

Viewing reviews and screenshots are just taking too long.  Earlier when it released, I had tried a few application downloads and experienced very little or no wait time (could of been the WiFi connection).  Throughout my day in and out of places, I am seeing that it is just lagging way too much.

A big problem I saw which was only brought to my attention reading BerryReview earlier was that when you recommend the app to a friend via email, BBM, text, etc, it sends a non working link!  I had not tried to do so, but after seeing that complaint, I had to try.

Also, a “new applications” section is definitely vacant.  We can’t see anything anywhere as to what new applications are out there.

As much as the application has its flaws, we did all enjoy using the app.  We were expecting more out of the App World with all the hype it built up.  I’m sure we’ll see some updated versions release very soon, what do you think?
