BlackBerry Storm officially hailed the most formidable challenger yet to the iPhone

We are at war.  Or so we have been for a while.  Some say it’s over, others say it hasn’t even begun yet.  Was the BlackBerry Storm RIM’s entire response to the iPhone?  Partially in my opinion, but there will be more unveiled as touch screen technology becomes familiar with BlackBerrys.

All 25 million of the BlackBerry subscribers around the world tend to form an “intensely loyal market,”  staying to their own product.  Sure there have been many switches from BlackBerry to iPhone (and many customers coming back again), but BlackBerry has done nothing but improve its product over time.

As we keep updating our device’s software, we see that a lot of visuals are becoming cosmetically nicer and functions more user friendly.  Look at the first generation BlackBerrys with the old school fonts and basic capabilities.  Look now.

Sure iPhone is whipping out its 3.0 software, fixing many issues and satisfying many MMS-less customers, but RIM maintains their steady product.  How do you feel about it?

i think that iphone will remain forever in the hands of those who want simple devices to access the internet, but nothing heavy, and just basic light work. the blackberry user on the other hand uses a massive amount of MB per month (as seen on the bill) sometimes outweighing his voice usage on the device perhaps! also the bb user types alot, making him crave and need the qwerty, suretype, or surepress keypad. blackberry is the over all best solution for getting things done properly.

iPhone remains being the most preferred just because of its simplicity, and how stubborn, slow, and stupid america is in reality. if we were all in europe, wed master the BlackBerry like never before. that excludes me as i am not blackberry disabled :)

iPhone is not for everybody, BB is not for everybody. i got an iPhone and i love it, but wouldnt mind to get a BB too and a Palm Pre when it will be released. But thats another story. But what bugs me, or better said, what i dont understand is this “war” thing. Watup with that? Its no war, like its not a war between PC and Macs. Some stupid obsessed people choose to build brands for others and the sad thing is that others engage in such actions.

Bottom line, is that if BB makes you productive, and suit your needs, than BB is the way to go. If you think iPhone does that, than go with the iPhone. Personally i would love to see BB killing the iPhone. I would love the competition, because its really really sad that we had to wait 3 major software updates to have MMS for example. thank god for jailbreaking. But as long, nobody raise to the iPhone level, yet!!! , apple is safe.

well apple kicked it hard by releasing the device with its full browser and very functional youtube from the get go which is fascinating. Their data plans are a lot more cheaper than blackberry and pricing plans are a big deal in this country.

yes there are those customers who seek different usages and choose between the iphone based on that, but what about those looking for the same features and are stuck between the 2? BB can be good multimedia wise and email, so can the iPhone, what does the customer do then?

yes they are separate devices, accomodating to some similar needs and some different needs. if you favor the emailing more than anything else, the berry is urs, if you prefer big screen multimedia music video and ringtone functions, then the iphone is urs. can both devices do all those tasks? yes, its a matter of consumer taste and preference. did the storm beat the iphone? yes and no. many didnt care for it. others looked at it as a great alternative to the iphone.

I thought that was already a known fact. I never wanted the iphone even before the storm came out. I don't really like touchscreens, but when the touch and click screen came out with the storm, my hands were all over it. I think you can all agree that I made a good decision.

  • katara_2798

    iPhone is better

  • katara_2798

I don't like the BB Storm. It's too fat :P and the Droid is too squarish and I don't like slide phones (my old LG Xenon broke cuz of that)…but I wouldn't mind having a Palm Pre either. Still, iPhone 3GS has me going. It's the best cell phone I have ever used and probably ever will. I can't wait until the 4G comes out!

  • brotherlewie

It doesn't matter what smartphone you have, as long as it does the job, it is stable and reliable, and you like it! Everyone has different needs. I love my Storm, but I'm eying the new BlackBerry 6 based 9800!
