After the first generation of the BlackBerry Storm, RIM felt it was ready to go for the second launch of a second generation Storm device.  With no confirmed names or details, it is still known as the “BlackBerry Storm 2.”

Being under the iPhone still (but beating it with the Curve 83xx), the Storm still falls under one of the top 5 phones sold last quarter.  BlackBerry coverage now extends to 475 wireless carriers and distribution partners in about 160 countries. The company grew its revenue in its last quarter by 84 percent to $3.46 billion.

RIM’s new motive, which was to target non-corporate users as well has succeeded as RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie confirmed that more than 50 percent of their sales are to non-corporate users.  “We see this very large and untapped consumer market,” Jim Balsillie said during a presentation to analysts and investors.
