Here’s a cool theme for all you looking to spice your BlackBerry up a bit.  It has an awesome background image with the 4.6 stock icons recolored to match the background.  The battery meter and signal strength meter are in the top corners and are round instead of the boring bars that we usually see.  The theme only works for the BlackBerry Curve 8900 device 4.6.1.xxx OS.  Special thanks to jackiectmo  for providing this theme!

998900

The pricing list has been leaked to the folks over at BGR, and they have been kind enough to share the info.  It looks like the BlackBerry Curve 8900 for AT&T will run at $199.99, says this leaked grid spreadsheet of AT&T device pricing.  It comes to the $199.99 price after a mail-in rebate of course, which some of you may or may not be so thrilled about.  At that price would you rather go ahead and get the BlackBerry Bold 9000?  Yes the Curve 8900 is faster, but does 3G make it or break it for you?

blackberry-gemini-auction

Usually when we see these leaked devices get auctioned on eBay, the prices are through the roof, and the buyer is always asking $1000 USD or more.  In this case, with the 31 bids, the auction is only at $325 USD with free shipping.  So what’s for sale?  The famous and recently leaked BlackBerry Gemini 8520.  Why does the title read “BLACKBERRY STORM 8520 GEMINI PRE RELEASE GSM UNLOCKED?”  No idea why they threw the “Storm” in there, maybe for keyword search purposes.   If you scroll to the bottom of the auction, it says you can Buy it Now for $450 shipped.  Great deal right?

Are you in a sudden emergency?  Do you want to be prepared for one? Hopefully you will never have to be in those tragic situations where you need to use the Panic Button for BlackBerry, but it’s good to have, just in case.  At the click of a button, you can easily alert people by SMS and email to inform them of your emergency.  Of course there is a thorough but easy setup for the application that allows you to choose which contacts it will buzz when your a damsel in distress.  An alert message can automatically include your device contact information, such as phone number, to allow someone receiving your message to call back and check on you. Your GPS location can also be added to the alert messages in a clickable link to Google Maps which pinpoints your location when the message was triggered.

Alerts can also be used everyday:

  • alone on campus
  • last person at work
  • alone / remote worker
  • when you’ve arrived at your meeting place
  • when your plane arrives at a destination
  • as a 5 minute warning

WIC Panic Button is an absolutely free application for you to download.  Try the application out for yourself by downloading it over at the BlackBerry App World.  It is located under Productivity & Utilities then in Clocks Calculators & Utilities.  Enjoy!

Wow.  I said the same thing when I saw this theme myself.  Every aspect, icon, color, font, placement, and everything else has been redefined and customized in this theme.  It’s not just another theme with rotating backgrounds, but a whole new experience for your phone.  The messages indicators are all alligned beautifully on the botton next to one another with the battery meter all the way to the far bottom right.  You got shortcuts everywhere and the Time and Date up on top.  This is really a professionally done theme, and shocking enough, it is free for download.  Special thanks to Rooster for providing this theme.

Lifehacker brought some interesting points to the table today with some info on two types of emailers that exist out there: The Day Laborer, which is more of the 9-5 guy emailing at work then done with it, and the other is the Emailaholic who is consistently emailing throughout the whole day.

“Small worlds expert Duncan Watts at Yahoo Research in New York City and a few pals studied the time of day at which around 3000 individuals at a European university sent emails over an 83-day period as well as the email habits of over 122,000 e-mailers at a US university over a 2-year period.

They found two distinct types of emailer. They termed the first “day labourers” because they tended to send emails throughout the normal working day between 0900 and 1800 but not at other times. The second group they called “emailaholics” because these people sent emails throughout the waking hours from 0900 to 0100.”

We would like this time to conduct the same survey here at PocketBerry.  Feel free to vote both here and over at Lifehacker as well.

In early March, we discussed about Etisalat getting the BlackBerry Storm, and by doing so being the first in the Gulf region to receive the device.  At almost two months after carrying the device, Etisalat in Dubai, UAE is now proud to announce its 10,000 BlackBerry subscribers in April.  With those very impressive numbers, we will continue to see faster releases of BlackBerry devices in that region as their demand stays high.  The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a big prime time location for businesses, especially in this age, and wireless technology is a big thing over there.  Nokia, being the main choice among many Europeans and Gulf residents, is starting to fade as BlackBerry hits the market to both the average consumer and practical business user.

fb0

As you can see, this theme is based on the hit social network that has destroyed yet created many of our lives, Facebook.  In loving memory of the the site, here’s a theme using some of the same colors and styles as the hit website.  Whether you’re a Facebook fan, typical user, or none of the above, this theme is really sleek for you.  There are two versions for OTA download.  The first is just a Today theme, and the second is a Today theme with 4 icons on the home screen as well.  I prefer the one with the 4 shortcuts, but that’s just me.  The icons are still boldish, but have been changed in their color to look real stylish against the rest of the theme’s color and design.  Be sure to check it out.  This theme is ONLY for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 running 4.6 OS.  OTA links for both versions are available below.  Special thanks to nemo2xg for providing this theme!
