blackberry-onyx-itw-01-sm

We’ve waiting quite a while after hearing details about the BlackBerry Onyx for the state of the art official images and the time has finally come!  Keeping its cool with the BlackBerry Bold keypad, the BlackBerry Onyx does rock the same keyboard and awesome 3G connection and slightly smaller in size.  So far this device is a prototype so we may or may not see future changes done to the device.  It rocks a nice 3.2 autofocus camera in the back with a awesome flash to its right side.  Is that a trackball we see? Yes it is.  The trackball has not been completely eliminated as you can see, but they’re going to remain coming out in black color as its father Curve 8900 has started that trend.  The side buttons are really sleek looking and seem to be made of rubber it seems.  There are no shots of the left side, but we all expect another shortcut key along with the new mini-USB charger input and 3.5mm headset/headphone jack as well.  Here are some main key specs of the device:

  • AWS 1700MHz + 2100MHz UMTS/HSDPA
  • 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera
  • GPS
  • Wi-Fi
  • QWERTY keyboard
  • Optical trackpad
  • 480×360 screen

Stay tuned for more details folks!

googleapps

Google is off on a spree, trying to communicate better with the average business user.  We told you last week about Google’s new BES services which are launching July this year.  The BES integrations with Google apps will allow BlackBerry users to connect withing the “Google Cloud” as ComputerWeekly put it.  It is supposed to be a great flawless experience between Google Apps and the the BlackBerry smartphone applications for the address book, mail, and calendar.

Google is confident that its Google Maps product could go out to help companies make faster, and informed decessions in assessing locations and efficiency of vehicle fleets they might have to deal with.  There’s the GPS fleet tracking software provider called “FleetMatics” that has recently announced that it is now integrated with Google Maps to give real time data, and start/stop times with speeds.  In addition, FleetMatics users can actually visualize their whole fleet locations and find out which vehicles are closer than others in order to have a better efficient dispatch.  In the end of the day, that’s only one example for what Google is capable of assisting with.  Think of the larger picture and how business can really benefit from what Google has to offer.

primetime2go

PrimeTime2Go lets you watch your favorite shows from leading networks and cable providers such as ABC, CBS, NBC, MTV, The CW and Discovery CHannel anytime, anywhere on your BlackBerry Bold or BlackBerry Curve 8900.  You can try it out for free and if you like it, it’s only $7.99 a month for unlimited usage.  The streaming quality is really good, but a 3G or WiFi connection is pretty much needed.  We tried it over the EDGE network on the Curve 8900, and it streamed flawlessly on WiFi and acceptable on EDGE.  The app does run a little slow at first when setting up your TV networks but generally works a charm when actually watching your episodes.  I personally went ahead and caught up on The Office espisodes thanks to PrimeTime2Go.  Head over to the BlackBerry App World to download it or check out the PrimeTime2Go website for more info.

tfln-txts-frm-lst-nght-remember-that-text-you-shouldnt-have-sent-last-night-we-do

We came across this funny website dedicated to all those text messagers who sent that one regrettable text message that doesn’t just end there.  The text recievers have the option to upload the text messages to this website for humiliation and laughter.  It really doesn’t have anything to do with BlackBerry, but there is a BlackBerry Bold 9000 in the header logo, and BlackBerry devices do text message.  Whether you have a BlackBerry, or any other type of cell phone, you fit the requirements to use this website.

Tune into TextsFromLastNight.com to check out some humorous text messages today.  The site is not mobilized yet, but it will be in a matter of time.

7digital

Being head to head with iTunes, 7Digital, formally from the UK is about to get released this late May or early June.  Basically, BlackBerry users will be given access to browse through and download thousands of free tracks from the big four major music labels and a host of indie labels.  The quality of the sound changes depending on the BlackBerry’s coverage whether it be in WiFi, EDGE, or 3G.  By doing so, you’ll have easy streaming with no chops all over the place.  Over at WES, they had quite a nice stand with some simulation provided via BlackBerry Bold devices.  It was definitely interesting and one of our favorite applications seen so far.  Stay tuned for further press releases and details on 7Digital.

blackberryniagara

We kept hearing rumors about a June debut for the famous BlackBerry Tour 9630 for Verizon formerly known as the BlackBerry Niagara, but it seems as though it’s been pushed ahead to July 13th this year to be exact.  Any further delays after that would be a few days different says the Verizon source.  We’ll just have to wait and see and hopefully won’t have another Bold dilemma again.

It seems as though there’s word going around the blogs about the BlackBerry Curve 8520 reaching out to T-Mobile towards the end of Q4 this year.  If you’re looking to get out of the trackball generation, wait patiently for the new sexy touch sensor padded BlackBerry to come out.  The confirmed specs are: 2 megapixel camera w/ fixed focus and no flash, microSD slot, QVGA display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, and quad-band GSM/EDGE. There’s no word on of 3G or GPS.  MobileMag confirms that T-Mobile will be getting this new Curve, first in line before everyone else.
