Oprah Winfrey was writing a loving tribute to the first lady Michelle Obama in the “Time 100″ section of Time Magazine. She goes into details as far back as 2004 when she had dinner with Michelle. She apparently wrote the whole article on her BlackBerry as a memo, and just missed the save button and cancelled the whole thing. Why don’t you have Docs to Go Oprah?
After being asked about the whole situation, she smiled without any panic and said “I’d been saving little notes on my BlackBerry. You know, I’d think of something and I’d put it on BlackBerry in the memo section. And then I went to hit the wrong button and the whole thing deleted! I went to hit ‘Save’ and instead I hit … ‘Oh my God! Oh my God! It’s gone!’ That ever happened to you? And then you can’t remember — not one sentence you wrote.”
She didn’t panic or anything in the aftermath actually. After not recalling anything she had just written, she went ahead and wrote it all over again. With her man by her side at the time, Oprah looked at Stedman for some relief. “Stedman was like, ‘Well, the reason that happened is obviously you’re going to write something better.’”
Check out Oprah’s final mastered tribute to Michelle Obama here.

OS Updates »

It looks like the folks over at CrackBerry got their hands on another OS 5.0 build (hopefully supporting beyond Hot Spot a& MediaNet Browser). Well the update is for both the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and the BlackBerry Bold 9000. Try it at your own risk. Although it is an updated OS, it is not approved by RIM or BlackBerry and is a leaked copy. Just because it’s at 5.0, it may not necessarily be better than your native 4.6+ OS.

It looks like the folks over at ITnews got some inside info from RIM in regards to future plans. It looks like RIM plans to abandon the trackball completely in all their future devices and input the new sensor pads, similar to ones that laptops currently have. Some are not to fond of the idea, but I personally believe change is always good. I’m up for the new sensor myself. Within the next upcoming six months, RIM will announce a new device that has both a touch screen and an actually QWERTY keyboard (BlackBerry signatured of course). It is going to be the successor of the BlackBerry Bold but there still are no details or decisions made as to what the device will be named when released to the market. Any good ideas?
Also, as we have heard already, the second version of the BlackBerry Storm will be announced shortly, expected to be earlier than six months. The successor of the Storm will have a lot of enhancements as RIM assures. The device will have a new “tactile touch” as ITnews puts it. Users will not only be able to navigate via touch but also put their fingers against the screen to click on the content.
The co-CEO Mike Lazaridis mentioned to ITnews that the they had no plans to release cheaper devices to accommodate for the tough economic times we face, but RIM is planning a cheaper model for the BlackBerry Curve that is going to be priced under $300, hopefully releasing before the end of the year.
It’s going to be an exciting few months with Research in Motion, seeing all the surprises and new devices releasing with new technologies. It’s a whole new generation for BlackBerry. This upcoming generation is going to be more like leaving the scroll wheel to the trackball devices.

It looks like JConverter got a whole brand new look, definitely a lot nicer than its older version. In JConverter 2, the whole menu has changed cosmetically and seems simplier to use. Never heard of it? Basically this program helps you in conversions between different kinds of units. Unfortunately it is only for 4.6.1 and above. Sorry Bold users, it’s only for the 8900 Curve and 95xx Storm.

Even if she’s with Verizon she could of copped a Storm. If she’s with AT&T, then she has a flat out 8300 first generation Curve. Definitely time to upgrade Conrad.

That is where the HP Printer Fun comes in handy. It will put some smiles on people’s faces and frowns on others. Use it at your own risk, as the software developer and PocketBerry staff are no responsible if you lose your job abusing your HP Printer Fun priviledges!
To download, go to the BlackBerry App World. It is found under Entertainment, or you can just manually search for “HP Printer Fun.” Enjoy folks.

We gave you a great Starbucks theme for the BlackBerry Curve 83xx before, and after getting so may requests for a Storm version, we have decided to supply you with one, so here it is! It’s not the same exact finish as the other Curve 83xx version, but it doesn’t mean it’s not as nice (or even nicer). Actually this theme has a really unique font I have not personally seen in a theme yet, with very cool classy icons as well. Each and every screen displays a different, unique Starbucks shot.
