Everyone needs to switch up their themes one time or another. Some get sick of the whole theme setup period and need to differentiate. That’s where the Urban theme comes in handy as it has a complete different layout. You get three stylish icons on the home screen and all your icons when you click menu. It’s another theme by Elecite, so without saying it is professionally done. For only $6.99 you can have this theme on your BlackBerry Bold, Storm, or Curve 8900!

One of my favorite themes that I wish was available for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 as well. Any way, you wonder why it’s called Dark Joker Animated and are curious where the animations are. Both the home screen and lock screen are both animated which is pretty cool. For all fans of the Dark Knight, The Joker, Heath Ledger, or even Batman in general, this theme is for you! Special thanks to

For all the big fans of the Big Apple (girls of course, but open to everyone), here’s a bottom dock theme for your BlackBerry Curve 83xx. The clock has been shifted to the far left with network name underneath. Signal strength remains to be in the upper right hand corner with the battery meter underneath it. Date stands out in a fashionable lower case font right in the middle. You get to have 7 customizable icons across the bottom which is great! The theme is available for both 4.2 and 4.5 os, click the right OTA download link below to get it. Special thanks to

The BlackBerry Curve makes it to the top beating the iPhone 3G! The BlackBerry Curve which comes as the 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330, & 8350i is among the most popular BlackBerry models in the world. Its size, and amazing features make it very appetizing to the hungry BlackBerry-less customer. Now we see the BlackBerry Curve beating not only its other BlackBerry siblings, but the Apple iPhone as well!
The top 5 goes as following:
- RIM BlackBerry Curve (all 83XX models)
- Apple iPhone 3G (all models)
- RIM BlackBerry Storm
- RIM BlackBerry Pearl (all models, except flip)
- T-Mobile G1
(List provided by CNET)
So how does a company like Research in Motion get 3 of their devices in the top 5? The answer is marketing. If you can recall, Verizon ran a promotion from February 6th- March 31st giving their customers a “buy 1 BlackBerry, get 1 free” deal. The deal went very well, and was not expected to outweigh the iPhone this much. Any BlackBerry you desired including the Pearl, Curve, & Storm were all buy 1 get 1 free for that whole month and change. The BlackBerry Curve came out to be among the most favored choices as you can see. It is available foor 4 nationwide carriers and the specs on it are very fair. A new BlackBerry user primarily would pick the Curve over any other by instinct, only because of the easy QWERTY keyboard, and the fashionable size of the device.

BlackBerry icons haven’t looked this hot ever. In the Zen Reload theme, the the icons look so much more elegant yet Apple-ish at the same time. Check out the screenshots before you think I’m losing my mind. The blue lake background has been appropriately chosen as it matches the icons perfect. There have been no reported bugs or errors in this theme, but if you do find anything, please let us know. Special thanks to 1madstrm for providing us with this theme.

We’ve been hearing about rumors and seeing leaked images of the new BES 5.0, and at last it is right at our doors for upgrade. As rumored before about wireless synchronization, it was completely legitimate plus a few more goodies included. RIM co-CEO James Balsillie says “This is the most powerful version of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server ever and we believe it will further cement RIM’s leadership position in the enterprise markets.”
Fully Web-based
- All the administrative services are now fully web based, meaning that no desktop client needs to be installed on administrators’ machines. Given that, BES admins will now be able to remotely access the Web interface to perform BlackBerry-related tasks — without having to physically visit the server. That alone became a big plus for many IT departments to upgrade to the 5.0 build.
Over-the-air software loading
- Administrators can now upgrade not only application software but also the operating systems of an individual user — or the entire company — completely over the air. This is an extraordinary feature that is the first of its kind. Traditionally, every device had to be manually updated through the computer which became quite an annoyance over time. What ended up happening is that many business users ended up having old updates on their BlackBerry and kept it that way to avoid any issues or confusions attempting to update via PC.
- Alan Panezic, vice president of Platform Product Management for RIM, sums it up during a presentation: “The only reason you would ever cable your BlackBerry in this version is to charge it.”
High availability
- BES 5.0 comes with a number of high-availability enhancements to placate even the most demanding administrator. It will be possible to configure active/passive failover design, which opens the way for server-side upgrades with limited downtime, and other DR and BC strategies.
- RIM says that when BES is running in a high-availability configuration, there is no single point of failure in the architecture. In addition, it is now possible to scale the number of supported devices on a single BES setup to a staggering 100,000 smartphones.
IT admins, without wasting anymore time, update your BlackBerry Enterprise Servers to the latest 5.0 build. It’ll make you and your Berry users’ lives a lot easier. Enjoy!
