We’ve seen funny emails and messages from Barack Obama get filtered all over the Internet. We even saw a book written for all the fans of the bits and pieces of Barack Obama conversations. In the end of the day, we all knew they were unreal and just for comic relief for the most part. The Iranian media didn’t share the same insight. Instead, they had taken the messages quite seriously.
The Iranian news website PressTV.ir believed the article to be true and reported that the book was seen as a “breach of national security”.
However, the emails were clearly published as jokes as one example purporting to be from Arnold Schwarzenegger illustrates; the subject of the message is titled “Let me go after Bin Laden alone.”
It reads: “Dear Mr. President, Listen to me: with a parachute, some Red Bulls and a crossbox I could capture Bin Laden in 24 hours. I could even do it naked. I will grow my hair long for this Really, it would be like fighting a homeless man: so easy. A NURSE COULD BEAT HIM UP. What’s the problem?! Drop me in there. – Arnold”

Michael Edward Wolsynuk got into his pickup truck, getting ready to drive home. At 3:57PM he was north of the Town and Country Shopping Centre on the Trans-Canada Highway, Wolsynuk lost control of his northbound vehicle. He crossed into the path of an oncoming truck. In the resulting crash, he was thrown across the passenger compartment, suffering massive head and neck injuries. He was rushed to the intensive care unit at Victoria General Hospital, but died of his injuries six days later.
So here are the facts:
- The road was wet, with rain falling. Standing water on the curve increased the risk of hydroplaning.
- Wolsynuk’s truck had significantly worn rear tires and there was no additional weight on the rear axles beyond the vehicle weight. The tires made it more likely that the vehicle would spin, and the lack of weight reduced the chance that Wolsynuk would have been able to regain control.
- Wolsynuk was not wearing a seatbelt, which meant he was tossed across the cab in the crash. His massive injuries were the result.
- He was communicating with a BlackBerry device just before the crash. That meant his attention was not on the road or the traffic around him.
If only one or two of those risk factors were present, the accident might have been avoided — for example, better tires could have compensated for the water on the road. Or wearing a seatbelt might have saved his life. But all together, the risks became a fatal combination. Wolsynuk’s BlackBerry represents one of the newer forms of driver distraction, and it’s one that is causing more and more problems. Telecommunications devices such as cell phones and BlackBerrys take the driver’s mind and eyes away from the road. Don’t think that using a cell phone or a BlackBerry affects your driving ability?
Drive carefully, and don’t use your BlackBerry when you drive. Be safe folks!

Who was even betting that the latest Palm Pre was going to kill the BlackBerry Storm? Apparently that was the word going around, and upon release of the Pre, it was just quite obvious it was no match. Verizon confirms that the Palm Pre is no match to their Storm in any way at all, but who knows what they’ll say when their stores get equipped with it in the next six months.

We just got the word that RIM just chooked up the Visor Mount Speaker phone VM-605 for only $100, making life extremely easy and fun.
Basically, it uses your Bluetooth and RF technologies to take music or any audio files from your BlackBerry smartphone and play them through your vehicle’s stereo system. Visor mount owners can also send and receive phone calls via the product’s built-in speaker or your car’s speaker system.
Pretty cool gadget? You can have one of your own for only $100.
RIM says:
“The BlackBerry Visor Mount Speakerphone VM-605 lets you enjoy your calls and your favorite music from your BlackBerry smartphone with the convenience and sound quality of your car’s FM stereo system. It’s easy to use. Just clip it to your car’s visor, turn it on, and you’re ready to start making and taking hands-free calls on the go. And because it supports voice activated dialing, caller ID, and verbal notifications to let you know who’s calling, you can stay in touch while keeping your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.”
