Since 9PM last night, we can all admit that we spent quite some time fiddling around with the late arriving Facebook 1.6 for BlackBerry.  The major changes were quite essential and definitely made everything easier as more tasks could now be done within the application rather than doing it through the native BlackBerry Browser, launching it quite frequently.  How’s Facebook 1.6  treating you?

All the older BlackBerry devices before the Pearl have been almost forgotten about and have been catered to themes and other bells and whistles as the newer devices.  So here we present you folks rockin’ the corporate 87xx series BlackBerry, the Sand Today Plus Theme!  Change is good, and that’s what your BlackBerry 8700c needs perhaps, assuming you have AT&T that is, but the theme will work for all other 87xx models… Anyway, all the icons have been customized to fit the whole beach theme and background.  You’ll find this to be among your favored themes as it is Today Plus, which is a major convenience for all!  Special thanks to vwkess for providing this theme!  This theme is only for os 4.5+ on the Blackberry 87xx series.  Unfortunately, there is no OTA but a desktop download is available!  Click here to download the zip file!

Personally, I’ve heard from employees at AT&T that customers have complained about their BlackBerry Bold 9000 devices going crazy by locking up and making their screens look similar to the above.  I haven’t seen any of these complaints online, but it looks like one of the bloggers over at BlackBerryInsight faces the same dilemma when playing the stock game Klondike on his Bold.  Anyone else experiencing similiar problems?

The folks over at BGR have confirmed that Facebook 1.6 will be arriving today at 6pm Pacific time tonight.  At last we get to embrace the very new version of Facebook which has many new features to this build.

The main changes are:

• Status updates and highlights on the home page – you can now view your friends’ most recent status updates right on the home page. Highlights like photo uploads and wall posts are just a click away and you can comment on a photo, poke a friend, etc right from the home page.

• Wall access from within Facebook for BlackBerry – with one click on your friend’s profile picture from the home page, you can access their wall without having to go to the mobile site.

• Photo viewing in a simple, easy-to-use slideshow format – check out your friends’ latest photo albums with improved photo viewing, and view albums in a simple and easy-to-use slideshow format. Just scroll back and forth through the thumbnails along the bottom to display the larger picture in the center of the screen.

• 3 new supported languages:
  • Thai
  • Indonesian
  • European Portuguese
