SK Telecom and RIM Launch BIS in Korea

BlackBerry’s famous services including BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) and BlackBerry Enterprise Service (BIS) are become very worldwide these days as RIM expands their ventures. We got the word the SK Telecom in Korea has finally received full BIS coverage in their region, enabling customers to be able to use the BlackBerry Internet Service freely, taking full advantage of functions such as push email. It’s great for businesses and personal use as everyone could use pocket sized Internet based devices.
Here are some key facts from RIM on the release:
- BlackBerry Bold smartphone and BlackBerry Internet Service will be available from SK Telecom beginning tomorrow
- Business customers and professionals in Korea can subscribe to BlackBerry Internet Service* through select SK Telecom’s retail stores, as well as SK Telecom’s online shop and authorized partners
- Monthly data plan of KRW 24,000* includes 30MB of data

According to IDC, mobile email subscribers in Korea are expected to quadruple from 4.7 million users in 2009 to 18.7 million in 2013**,” said Chang-Suk Shin, Senior Vice President of Business Service & Innovation Office, SK Telecom. “We are glad to introduce BlackBerry Internet Service to our customers in Korea. This service is the right solution for business customers and professionals who want a smartphone that keeps them well connected to people and information on the go, and provides them with an exceptional mobile experience.”
