welcome to myblackberry

Earlier yesterday we told you about the new official BlackBerry social networking site being brought to you by RIM and rumors floating around as to when it will release.  The site appears to be active, but you are required to have an invitation code at the moment to make an account as it is officially not open to the public.  As it was reported at one point to be released later Tuesday, it was then confirmed to be releasing officially by midnight, but it turns out that wasn’t exactly credible as well.

The website is indeed up and running to our knowledge just not available to the public just yet, but very close.  We haven’t been able to make an account yet, but based on browsing the site and looking and the neat flash video we got some pretty nice sneak peaks to have a rough idea what to expect.

Their main punch line on the home page is “Learn about new applications. Connect with others. Share stories or tips and tricks.” The main objective is to spread BlackBerry knowledge to everyone around the world who is currently using the device and just create a more “user friendly” environment at the same time.  As previewed, a lot of the site looks somewhat forum based more than actual social networking which is encouraging open ended questions and answers floating back and forth between BlackBerry users.

If you head over to the MyBlackBerry site and click “Learn More,” you’ll see a quick exciting video as to what this new site has to offer.
