SMobile saves the day with AntiSpyware for BlackBerry customers via Etisalat
by The PocketBerry Team
Two days ago, we gave you the full scoop on the “performance patch” put out by Etisalat in the UAE for BlackBerry users in which turned out to be spyware monitoring emails and text messages.
“This incident is yet another example of why all smartphones need to be protected with security software, such as Antivirus and firewall,” said Neil Book, president of SMobile Systems.
SMobile Systems has come to save the day. So who are they exactly? They are currently the leading provider of security solutions for mobile phones and maker of the only Antivirus and AntiSpyware applications in the world for BlackBerry devices. In this case, they have released a solution for the Etisalat customers who got infected with the spyware patch for BlackBerry.
The BlackBerry spyware, which intercepts email and drains battery life quickly, was pushed as an update to BlackBerry’s on the Etisalat network. Sent to users as a WAP message, the Java file intercepts data and sends a copy to a server without the user’s knowledge.
If you’re feeling paranoid about your device and would like to purchase an antivirus/antispyware software for your BlackBerry, go to smobilesystems.com and purchase a copy of SMobile Security Shield or see other softwares they have as well preventing identity theft and things of that nature.
