nightfall

Nightfall HD theme for the BlackBerry Curve 83xx series has customized icons that are all shaped the same with different logos in the very center to represent the different applications.  The font looks like it is something out of a horror movie which is really cool.  Enabling this theme will change your whole BlackBerry experience as everything is pretty much customized here.  The theme is absolutely free and is ONLY for the BlackBerry Curve 8300, 8310, 8320, and 8330.  The OTA link is available below.

This funny application is great for many cases.  If you’re a joker, then go ahead and download this application and play tricks on your friends with it.  Better yet, download it on their phones creating a state of confusion for them.  FakeScreen basically mimics a broken screen or a “Blue Screen of Death.”

Once the app is started it takes a screen shot of your current location on the storm and waits…. Click the screen and a realistic screen break simulation is shown instantly with realistic sound effect (Recorded from actually screen cracking off of real cell phone) Once the joke is played, hit the BB button to clear the crack and now its ready to be set up again!

This application is for the BlackBerry Storm only.

agito for blackberry

Agito Networks has just announced that it will be offering enterprise voice over IP for the BlackBerry device today.  The main issue has been adding VoIP capabilities to RIM’s locked, proprietary operating system. But all that turned around recently when Agito Networks announced Agito for BlackBerry, which will essentially provide mobile UC support for four dual-mode BlackBerry models: the 8800, the Bold 9000, and the Curve 8300 and 8900.  Sure we’ve seen devices from T-Mobile such as the 8900 which come equipped with UMA allowing them to speak over WiFi networks unlimited, but these other devices weren’t given the capabilities those T-Mobile devices were given, and Agito just takes it to the next level topping it all off.

In addition to the seamless handover between cellular and Wi-Fi networks (which gives users wireless phone coverage pretty much wherever they happen to be and uses cheaper Wi-Fi connectivity when and where it’s available), mobile UC supports/enables presence, instant messaging, plus a lot of PBX functionality, such as extension dialing, single phone number for business and personal calls, a single voice mailbox, corporate directory lookups, and “mid-call” functions, such as hold, transfer, and conference.

Here’s a funny 4 minute and change clip from David Letterman where one of the most talented actors Kevin Spacey explains the birds and bees of Twitter using his BlackBerry.  Being unfamiliar with the popular social network, Letterman answers to Spacey “I can’t afford it” when asked if he uses Twitter.

The Lightening theme for BlackBerry Curve 8900 has different views of lightening from the sky in different colors and designs.  The indications for “new messages” has been changed from the red star to an actual bubble that says “new” in it.  Special thanks to BarbieW for providing this great theme.  This theme is only for the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and doesn’t work for any other Curve model including the 83xx series.  Enjoy.

The soon to be gone telecom firm Nortel, which is auctioning its business this week has stated that Research In Motion was shut out of the bidding process for failing to sign non-disclosure agreements.  Toronto-headquartered Nortel, which has been operating under bankruptcy protection since January after posting losses of $5 billion last year, is auctioning its various divisions to liquidate itself.

On Tuesday, RIM accused Nortel managers of shutting them out of the bidding process.  RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie said they are ready to offer $1.1 billion to Nortel for the wireless unit, much higher than Nokia-Siemens’s starting offer of $650 million and MatlinPatterson’s $725 million also.  Denying the RIM allegations, Nortel said Wednesday that the RIM was shut out as it failed to meet court-determined requirements to participate in the auction.

Yet another update for WordPress for BlackBerry releases this morning.  It looks like they’re staying on top of it as this is the third release of an update this month.  This releases introduces a big upgrade on how the app finds your site via XML-RPC. If you’ve had trouble adding your sites with the previous betas, it’s time to upgrade and try this one out. Here is the full list of changes with this release:

The fastest way to start emailing on all Blackberrys.  In my opinion it is very useful on the BlackBerry Storm as it could be difficult to get into “compose mode.”  Once installed a new icon will be available for one touch access to the Compose Email screen.  Great for all Blackberry users who want single push button access to create new email messages, to one or multiple email recipients.  Move the icon to your favorite spot on your main screen for even quicker access.
