BlackBerry Bold Visual Voicemail goes live in the United States

Although the official OS is not exactly released yet, the BlackBerry Bold can use its Visual Voicemail capability ahead of the game, a little. We’ve got the new OS expected to debut August 25th (tomorrow) including an incredible .508 jump along with OTA update capabilities. The Visual Voicemail app has been included in the latest builds we’ve downloaded from other carriers but it has been nothing but a dead icon that did nothing. If you have a later OS, you can call AT&T and activate Visual Voicemail absolutely free with no monthly chargers for it. This goody is only for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 as of now, sorry Curve owners.

Again you must be an AT&T BlackBerry Bold customer with a later OS other than what AT&T had to offer you as of TODAY. Meaning you already have a Visual Voicemail icon and are eligible to get it working. Keep in mind that AT&T reps are not fully trained on these procedures yet so bare with them as they put you on hold to research what the visual voicemail options are for the BlackBerry Bold as they are only used to that for the iPhone devices. After waiting on hold for a few minutes and your rep has successfully activated your Visual Voicemail for the BlackBerry Bold 9000, you should go ahead and do a phone restart (battery pull, QuickPull app, or even ALT + Rt Shift + Del). There is a huge chance that your rep will contact tech support and they will not do anything for you as tech support says the update isn’t due til tomorrow. You may have to try a few times with your AT&T reps to get it right. After doing so, you’ll see that the voicemail is brilliant in its functions. You will have to make a new password and select a greeting for your Visual Voicemail to work now. Let us know how you like it.
