We’re all at the edges of our seats waiting for the OS update to come which is allegedly OTA as well as Desktop Manager capable.  What’s the biggest, baddest thing about this update?  AT&T is finally releasing visual voicemail for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 for the first time ever.  Visual Voicemail’s advantage is similar as it is in the iPhone.  Rather than having your native voicemail where you must call (and waste minutes if you will) trying to check your messages, Visual Voicemail for BlackBerry acts as an actual answering machine service built right in, recording on to your phone.  AT&T has posted a fact sheet and instructions showing us what exactly we should expect and how to install the Visual Voicemail.  The update is expected to release late afternoon, but we all remember Verizon’s first BlackBerry Storm update to 4.7.0.75 and how long that took to release.  Below is the AT&T fact sheet that has recently been released with some key facts on the software (a huge tease) :

AT&T Visual Voicemail Now Available for BlackBerry Bold Users

Why listen to multiple voicemail messages, when you only care about hearing one? Introducing AT&T Visual Voicemail – a free* service now available for BlackBerry® Bold® users.

AT&T Visual Voicemail offers customers an easier way to check voicemail.  Similar to looking at messages in your e-mail inbox, AT&T Visual Voicemail lists your voicemail messages, allowing you to choose the order in which you listen to them.

Additional features include:

  • Review and delete messages from your Visual Voicemail or Messages inbox
  • Store up to 40 messages for 14 days in your inbox
  • Save important numbers to your contacts
  • Reply to messages via return call, SMS, email, or MMS
  • Share messages by forwarding via email or MMS
  • Save audio of messages to device memory or to memory card

Existing BlackBerry Bold users can update their devices with a software maintenance release (v4.6.0.508) which includes the AT&T Visual Voicemail application.

You can check out the full BlackBerry Bold page by AT&T Wireless to get a walk-through and glimpse of released documents by clicking here.  Stay tuned for more info on the OS update for the BlackBerry Bold 9000.
