One of the most convenient apps you can have on your BlackBerry is gWabbit.  For those who don’t know, gWabbit physically works while you don’t know as it grabs a contact’s info in an email you have open, gathers it all together and saves to your address book.  For many business users this can come handy as emails and contact info get misplaced all the time from lacking in saving contact information yourself.  Look at gWabbit as your secret secretary you never need to consult.  They have recently updated to version 2.0 for both BlackBerry and Microsoft Outlook with lots of goodies and upgrades.

Several months ago, Inside BlackBerry launched which is the first official BlackBerry blog out there.  It wasn’t your average PocketBerry-styled site where you received all sorts of freeware, themes, and leaked info, but more of a press blog for upcoming and current releases in the BlackBerry market.  Now we see the Developer’s Blog has started which is a division of the Inside BlackBerry blog.  So what will this blog be used for exactly?

  • Technical Discussion and Insights – Providing the best practices for BlackBerry development, code snippets, and general technical information on how to make applications
  • Market Insight – Discussions on topics of trends and opportunities in mobile development and mobile applications that RIM sees from breathing the mobile industry every single day.
  • Developer Engagement – RIM has substantial plans to get more engaged with our regional and local developer communities all around the world, from Australia to Argentina and everywhere in-between.  They will be using the BlackBerry Developer’s Blog to communicate events in the developer’s region and opportunities to meet other BlackBerry developers.

If you’re interested in every becoming a BlackBerry programmer for apps, this is a great place to start and get your feet wet.  Click here to head over to the Developer’s Blog.

We all heard the rumor that Verizon will be releasing its BlackBerry Tour equipped with WiFi next year.  The main reason it wasn’t released now with it was said to be because of the rush Verizon put on getting the device in production and on their shelves.  The all new BlackBerry Storm 2 has been seen out in the open having a WiFi option in the “Manage Connections” tab.  This has confirmed to be Vodafone’s version so it isn’t exactly confirmed here.  Will Verizon follow their overseas pals and equip WiFi as well?  By the look of it, we should expect to see more Verizon BlackBerry devices equipped with WiFi.

bb-9700-in-the-wild

The former BlackBerry Onyx has been officially titled the Bold as the words are engraved on the back, as “Curve” is on the 8520.  Many are not too fond of the idea as it is kind of cheap looking.  Any way as we all know, the Bold 9700 is officially coming to AT&T Wireless as it has been leaked in their inventory database.  Surprisingly, the Bold 9700 has now appeared with a T-Mobile sticker on it with no word on a release date or anything else of that nature.  Many are suggesting that this is for T-Mobile UK as they received the Bold 9000 as well while the US carrier T-Mobile did not.  Either way, this one appears to have chrome surrounding which makes it real clear as to what was intended as “charcoal” in the AT&T leaked inventory.
