We all know today is the big release date for the all new BlackBerry 8520 launching via T-Mobile. We have been hyping about it for months now, seeing all sorts of leaked images in the web. So who else is getting it? Bharti Airtel which is the major provider in India and Sri Lanka launched the device as well today surprisingly. The BlackBerry Curve 8520 smartphone was launched on their prepaid and postpaid platforms in collaboration with the manufacturer. The device was priced at Rs.15,990, will be available starting Aug 7. The launch follows that of Nokia’s E-series phones that have most of the standard Blackberry features and are available at a price starting from Rs.12,500. RIM India vice president Frenny Bawa, denied that Tuesday’s launch was a reaction to Nokia’s E-series, saying: ‘We are pioneers in smartphones. We do not need to react to any market development.’
Congrats to everyone who got their 8520 today. Let us know how you like it.

Keep in mind folks, this is the pre-production model, as to date we have been promised to have the new sensored trackpads on our BlackBerry devices rather than the trackball. The asking price is 900 pounds which is about 1,500 dollars and change. The advertisement reads as follows:
“New RIM smartphone to replace Bold in December, be the first to own one now. Phone comes with USB cable and charger. Not boxed, as no pre-release phones come boxed from RIM. Just to clarify this is not a Blackberry Bold, it is the replacement for that phone, its model number is 9020. Please bare in mind that whilst this phone is fully functioning and can be used on a daily basis with all RIM services, that it is still a pre-release device, and as such has not reached the final stage of production that would make it market ready. For those wanting a phone thats not coming out for 3-4 months, the price will reflect this, for those that don’t. The price will appear too high. The choice is down to the buyer. Also the ONLY two payment methods I will accept are Bank Transfer to my UK bank from a UK bank, and cash on collection. NO Paypal, No Escrow, nothing, so unless you want to pay via the two methods I’ve listed above, do NOT email me.”

To finish our sentence: Just incase RIM shuts down BIS/BES, you can do all of the following as listed in the image above. At first we laughed, but what if it did happen one day? My immediate answer was WiFi, but if BIS and BES shut down, you better expect not to see any push email or BlackBerry Messenger operation at all. So let’s just look at this as a funny figure, and think nothing of it.

The Kidsplay theme is not as childish and “kiddy” as you think. The icons are so nice that you’ll forget you’re on a BlackBerry (metaphorically speaking). The home screen gives you four customizable icons along with the Calendar up top making it a Today theme. Special thanks to BarbieW for providing the theme.
