intro

We’ve shared plenty of barcode scanners for BlackBerry, free of download but this one we had to share as their application is a great interface.  Also, it supports QR-Code, BeeTagg Code, Datamatrix, while acting a code reader giving you many tools and apps along with it.  The reader is absolutely free for download.  Click here to have a link sent to your phone.  The coolest part of the service is that there is a code generator page where you can generate your own codes using any website you desire.  Download your free copy today and let us know what you think.

Supported Devices: 8100, 8110, 8120, 8300, 8310, 8320, 8900, 9000, 9500, 9530

youmail

YouMail has just announced a new service called DropBox which is a free service that basically allows users to integrate VoIP (voice over IP) and PBX voicemail with your cell phone voice mail.  To have this work for you, your VoIp or PBX provider MUST be delivering voicemails via email as MP3 or WAV files.  Every YouMail customer has a DropBox at myphonenumber@my.youmail.com ( For Example: 8881234567@my.youmail.com) where ‘myphonenumber’ is your 10 digit phone number that is currently associated with your YouMail account.

So how do you start using YouMail’s DropBox?  If you receive voicemails delivered by email from another service provider, simply go to your current voicemail system’s configuration pages (ie. Vonage), and change the e-mail address the voicemail goes to. The new email address should be directed to your DropBox. YouMail will take care of forwarding any necessary confirmations of your new e-mail address.

We’re all at the edges of our seats waiting for the OS update to come which is allegedly OTA as well as Desktop Manager capable.  What’s the biggest, baddest thing about this update?  AT&T is finally releasing visual voicemail for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 for the first time ever.  Visual Voicemail’s advantage is similar as it is in the iPhone.  Rather than having your native voicemail where you must call (and waste minutes if you will) trying to check your messages, Visual Voicemail for BlackBerry acts as an actual answering machine service built right in, recording on to your phone.  AT&T has posted a fact sheet and instructions showing us what exactly we should expect and how to install the Visual Voicemail.  The update is expected to release late afternoon, but we all remember Verizon’s first BlackBerry Storm update to 4.7.0.75 and how long that took to release.  Below is the AT&T fact sheet that has recently been released with some key facts on the software (a huge tease) :

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is working out so far just as RIM planned it.  It is a lower end BlackBerry device (to some extent) being marked down at a cheaper price to get everyone into the BlackBerry vibe.  As it recently released for T-Mobile in the United States, Verizon Wireless will be following up with an 8530 (just a CDMA version) before the end of the year.  Orange and RIM have announced today that the BlackBerry Curve 8520 will be releasing in Spain officially.  We have the full press release attached with a recap on the specs of the BlackBerry Curve 8520 as well.  Continue reading to get the full scoop.

china-telecom

China Telecom, one of China’s top three mobile carriers, confirmed yesterday for the first time that it would bring the BlackBerry into its network along with the Palm Treo, which is way outdated as is.  China Mobile has been the country’s dominant mobile carrier with more than two-thirds of the market as of 2006 and has already offered BlackBerry in its country but has not strongly promoted the service. With the advantages in the government and corporate markets, China Telecom is more suitable for the RIM promotion.  We’d expect to see more prepaid plans release as it is very popular to have in Europe in Asia.

myblackberry1

We’ve been waiting for MyBlackBerry to launch publicly for months now as it’s been closed and only users with invitation codes were able to join.  As we discussed it before, MyBlackBerry is more forum based, giving tips and tricks to each other, along with assistance in troubleshooting.  The main objective here is to spread the BlackBerry knowledge to everyone, and this was a great way to do it as users from all over the world can interact and share ideas.

Head over to MyBlackBerry today and make an account.

The BlackBerry Tour 9630 gives you an incredible screen resolution.  In return you should equip it with a great theme such as this one here.  The Ed Hardy Theme for the BlackBerry Tour 9630 is created by Jennifer over at Cool BlackBerry Themes.  The bottom dock is completely customizable and the icons have all been uniquely designed to create a good combination with all the theme’s aspects.  Special thanks to Jennifer for providing this theme.  The OTA link is available below the screenshots.  Enjoy.

twitter

We received various emails from people saying that their UberTwitter, TweetGenius, and SocialScope apps weren’t working properly but it has all been narrowed down to be the Twitter service itself malfunctioning.  Users experienced long lagging moments between the hours of 2pm-4pm EST.  After 4pm, the site went completely off, so your BlackBerry tweeting frenzy will temporarily be suspended to further investigation and a proper solution occurs.  A few weeks ago, Twitter encountered a DDOS attack that took days to recover from.  We do not have any word as to why the service is down today but will keep you up to date as the news flows.  If you folks hear any updates in regards to any of the Twitter issues, let us know!

UPDATE: Twitter is now up and running

Browsing via BlackBerry? Log in to PocketBerry from a PC/Mac to participate in poll! This is a figure just to see what device you would get if you had to before the end of the year.  We are not putting up all the BlackBerry devices up there as we want to narrow it down to the newer ones.
