Services in vehicles such as On-Star by GM and Road Side assist by Mercedes-Benz have been looked at the be the most convenient methods of seeking help while on the road. Mini has just introduced road side assitance through quite differently. Last week, Mini has developed an application for the BlackBerry and iPhone platform for roadside assistance. This eliminates having to talk to a human being or wait on hold with AAA services. The app is being offered free for BlackBerry and iPhone users who currently own Mini vehicles. Here we’re going to hook you up with some screnshots of the application to get a rough idea as to how it is. Of course we can’t walk you through the whole application as it does need a VIN # for a Mini vehicle.

It’s been confirmed that a wireless update will be available on August 25th for the latest BlackBerry Bold 9000 OS via AT&T Wireless. The OS version will be a 4.6.0.508 being titled a “Maintenance Release” as we all hope it will fix many lags, memory leaks, and overall enhance the whole device’s performance. It will be available to download via Desktop Manager and over the air via BlackBerry. Should we not expect OS 5.0 to release officially anytime soon? There were rumors leaking around for a few days for a new update, but it looks like it has been confirmed to be a wireless update as well, being AT&T’s first time.

We were given the opportunity to chat with Adil Lalani, one of the founders of TwitVid.com. So what’s TwitVid? It’s a Twitter website that gives users the unique ability to “tweet” videos. Recently they released a TwitVid application for the BlackBerry handheld, enabling Twitter users across the world to share and view videos.
UberTwitter, one of the most famous BlackBerry Twitter applications recently provided their users with the new ability to send videos via Twitter, as they have embedded TwitVid into their mobile application. Lalani emphasized though, that although UberTwitter was using TwitVid’s service to enhance their own, there is no intention on forming a business partnership.
Unfortunately, the minds at TwitVid were unable to comment on any future upgrades due to the relative newness of the application, but they did tell us that improvements to the application’s features are coming. UberTwitter’s recent offering of a premium version of their app naturally brought up the question of monetization as far as TwitVid is concerned. Lalani said “at this time our mission is to make consumers happy as we have no plans to monetize. We are focused right now on growth. We want to be the kings of video tweeting.”

Everyone went mad when UberTwitter put out advertisements on their Beta 4 update. In reality, the software is free, so there really is no reason not to expect ads or some way for the creators to monetize accordingly from it. The good news is that if you don’t like the ads, you can go ahead and download a premium version for a one time fee of $4.99 without all the ads. When purchasing the application, you have a year free of updates and will not get prompted to purchase after that year. With that said, it is assumed that you will have to purchase another copy of it in a year if you would like to continue receiving application updates.
