A few weeks ago the folks over at FeedBerry had their hands on a first generation BlackBerry Onyx which is now known as the new Bold 9700. It was still equipped with a trackball, so it gave it away that it wasn’t the latest edition, but it did have the leather back that all us current Bold users favor. Here we see a BlackBerry Storm 2 aka Odin 9550 get pictured showing off its latest 5.0.183 operating system. There isn’t much info from them as to what this OS is capable of doing as their website is not in English. But it’s always a great tease to see leaked devices come up everywhere.

Many people end up emptying their received and sent messages to solve the problem but all of that is not necessary. You don’t deserve to lose your conversations. It’s a huge dilemma many face, and the easiest solution to do so is to simply go into the Options then SMS Text, then change the “Number of Previous Items” to something more realistic like 5 or 6. Some folks have it set by default at 50 which will cause lots of lag. Do this, and enjoy a long lasting conversation with your significant other without the long lasting lag.

It’s not the latest news or anything, but many people are at shock so we are just reminding you that OS 5.0 will be equipped with Silverlight and Flash. We mentioned in our OS 5.0 review that embedded media will be supported by the stock browser, but did not emphasize that Silverlight and Flash were going to supported, although many figured that out on their own. BGR confirms today that the information is true as well along with some other small blogs. We have browsers such as Skyfire that have been in alpha for a long time, making it almost not worth the while to ever release public if RIM is going to provide the same exact services most likely faster than Skyfire themselves. Perhaps we’ll see a bigger rush on Skyfire’s BlackBerry release if that’s the case.

CameraMuteApp does exactly what it’s called. It mutes your camera’s shutter sound. For some reason it is only available for GSM devices. This could be really handy when trying to be the paparazzi you want to be, but it has also become a legal requirement for all camera phones to have the shutter sound in the United States, so use this at your own risk. It is absolutely free to download via OTA.
BerryReview has given detailed instructions how to use the app:
- You launch it via the icon, then press Menu -> Add MenuItem then you go to your camera app.
- Now when you want to mute the sound of the shutter you simply click Menu -> Mute! and after you have taken the fotos you click Menu -> Unmute! to turn on the sound again.
- After each reboot you have to add the MenuItem to the Menu again.

TomTom made its big debut a few years ago on the PocketPC aka Windows Mobile devices. The program differed from VZW and AT&T Navigator as TomTom is saved on the actual phone and uses just the GPS receiver and the carrier programs stream off the mobile Internet provided with the device. Google and TomTom are getting really friendly as Android devices will have support for the GPS app. Any room for a BlackBerry device getting equipped with the awesome GPS app soon? When questioned about support for BlackBerry devices the TomTom VP responded, “I do not question the opportunity that RIM might offer but we know that a satnav device needs to have a large touchscreen and voice commands to be able to work for turn-by-turn navigation. We come from a PDA background and we know what will work.”

The Planet X theme for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 is obviously a unique one in every way. It isn’t exactly your bottom or top dock theme either. It’s one of those themes you must try out to like, because no matter how much I tell you it’s great, it still will not suffice. Special thanks to nemo2xg for creating this theme and if you do like it, please donate the thememaker by clicking here. The OTA link is available below the screenshots. Enjoy.

Besides the BIS enabled features now within WordPress there have been quite a few other changes. Now there’s added support for the “more” tag in both pages posts. Also there have been tweaks to the UI which was based on user feedback. Many error messages have been eliminated as well according to the update report. In addition, this may not affect you but the app will work even when the device memory has encryption mode on, which again might not apply to you to begin with. In any case, the OTA download for the new update is now available for download.

The biggest hype so far on the BlackBerry Storm 2 is the whole TruePress technology and the fact that the screen doesn’t click like the first generation did, but buttons are still felt and “clicked” to an extent. The whole screen displays as one big surface, without the annoying lights shining around the border as the 9500 & 9530 did. Check out this interactive video showing some cool WiFi action along with some typing. The video is a bit blurry, and running an early OS version but as you can see, the device is an incredible answer to all these disappointed Storm 9500 & 9530 owners who want to know what will come to future RIM touchscreen devices.
