Any further ventures with Slacker Radio & RIM? What if?

It’s been awhile since we heard any up to date news on Slacker Radio.  Recently, Slacker got their software to come stock on Verizon’s BlackBerry Storm 9530 right out of the box which was a huge achievement and success due to Verizon’s V Cast services.  After that, there really hasn’t been much news as to what the company is up to as far as its BlackBerry services go.

So what are the possibilities?  We know that RIM is in the process right now of turning its once-corporate BlackBerry into an all around device for both business and personal use adding lots of multimedia functions.  Around the corner is the famous U2 Mobile Album for BlackBerry which is expected to release very soon (rumored to be Sept.12).  With that being its first phase, and Slacker Radio becoming stock on some BlackBerry devices, is there room for any more media integration between the two companies making Slacker an embedded feature rather than a third party software?

It’s all a possibility and there is no telling if anyone is clearly up to anything but it would be a nice idea.  Confused?  Imagine going into your BlackBerry Media folder and just being able to select Streaming audio next to your music playlist rather than going out to a third party application and selecting it.  If RIM has plans to get through the iPhone like that commercial, then all these rumors, ideas, and thoughts need to be taken in consideration.

How about the image above?  RIM is pushing its main display on its website to a BlackBerry Storm with Slacker Radio right on the front of it.  Once upon a time, the native media player was advertised but now we can start seeing more appreciation towards Slacker Radio on it.  Who’s complaining?  Slacker is indeed the best streaming radio solution for your BlackBerry.

Again these are all just thoughts up in the head as there is no confirmation of any of it being true at all.  Some of you may find the whole idea far fetched.  But what if?
