The PocketBerry team took a trip to New York City yesterday to check out the Gizmodo Gallery and see what all the neat advanced technology gadgets were like first hand as well as complimentary free pancakes with the incredible automated pancake machine they had displayed.  The interesting thing we saw was the fact that all their display items showed had Microsoft tag barcodes next to them so you can get more info on it right on your BlackBerry (or other compatible device).  As the image appears blurry, click it to enlarge to read it clearly.  Simply download the Microsoft Barcode Scanner and then when you scan the barcode, your browser will open up to a page displaying information on what you’re looking at live.  Pretty cool right?

BlackBerry.com has went ahead and changed their home page to the BlackBerry App World religiously.  More and more apps are getting submitted to the suite every day.  There’s been a lot of recent improvements in the App World itself, adding top free and paid apps as well as easier navigation.  The selection grows wider every day from multimedia apps to corporate business user tools to help you become more savvy.  Now on the homepage, BlackBerry is pushing its App World more to consumers in order to gain that user friendly/non-corporate image and stand strong against Apple’s iPhone.  If you haven’t already (which I highly doubt), check out the BlackBerry App World today.

Fight Night Round 4

We told you earlier about EA Games getting involved more into mobile entertainment along with the successful release of the NFL Madden 10 game for BlackBerry.  Shortly after, we see Fight Night Round 4 release for BlackBerry by EA Games as well.  For those who don’t know, this is a boxing game with all your favorite boxers you can choose to play as.  The game is originally on the PlayStation 3, XBOX, and Wii console but has found its way to fit on your BlackBerry.  The whole game play experience is incredible giving you the best graphics ever right on your BlackBerry screen.  Forget those high quality games you first play on PlayStation 3 then later play on a mobile losing all sorts of graphics.  Of course, we have been promoting many Bplay games lately, but in reality the games they offer continue getting better and better.  Fight Night Round 4 gives you the best quality graphics that your device can handle.  We got the screenshots below as well as the download link.  For only $6.99, you can have this game on your BlackBerry.

It looks like 5.0 isn’t what the new BlackBerry Messenger’s version is going to be.  Putting that away on the side, various BlackBerry users have gotten pop-up messages showing that a new update is available.  This might of been an accidental test sent out by RIM which reached many folks or an unexplainable phenomenon which is highly unlikely.  Now to get back to the software version, BBM 5.0 is just the leaked copy that is floating around.  In reality, the new BBM will be version 2.5 or something along those lines.  It was too ironic that BBM 5.0 doesn’t work with OS 5.0.

vzwinventory8530

As the dates come close, the BlackBerry Storm 9550 makes more appearances on Verizon’s inventory database.  All the way on the bottom you’ll see that the 9550 is clearly there along with two versions of the 8530.  Apparently it will be coming in two different colors, one supposedly black and the other red as it is displayed in the picture above.  What happened to the lavender BlackBerry Curve 8530?

redfly-mobile-companion-blackberry-laptop-3

Before you all get excited, this isn’t a full blown BlackBerry laptop with a processor and all sorts of goodies.  Its basic purpose is to emulate your exact BlackBerry screen on this “laptop” which consists basically of a screen and keyboard with no actual internal hardware.  The motion and navigation of the device is supposedly live and up to date as far as motion and activity goes.  So what about the BlackBerry to REDFLY laptop connections?  You can sync your BlackBerry with the REDFLY device either through USB or Bluetooth.  In the back of the device, you’ll see that there are two USB devices which we are uncertain why two of them are necessary.  (more…)

It was nice to see more than expected BlackBerry recognition at the Gizmodo Gallery yesterday.  The Microsoft barcode scanning was incredible to begin with as many folks found it oh so very handy.  From the various mobile phones that were displayed, the BlackBerry Tour had its beautiful showcase on one of the tables where Gizmodo fans were allowed to try the device hands on and ask questions about it as well.  The BlackBerry Tour 9630 is a Verizon Wireless device which also made its big debut side by side with Sprint.  Currently it has been rated the best smartphone for travel as it will work on any network in the world both GSM and CDMA.

maroon5

Awhile back, we gave you the full scoop on the TwitVid application that released for BlackBerry along with an incredible interview with one of the co-founders.  For those who don’t remember, TwitVid is a simple application that lets you tweet videos right from your BlackBerry.  It is also a full interactive website for video tweeting as well.  The site had up a 30 Seconds to Mars contest where contestants posted videos as a tryout to be in the band’s documentary DVD.  Now they have just put up a Maroon 5 Contest Coming Soon banner.  So here’s the rules.  Go to the Maroon 5 tab, upload a video of you singing a Maroon 5 song, and you’ll be in.  As for the winner? there will be a $15k prize for a college student winner on their tour.  Stay tuned for more info on the Maroon 5 contest via TwitVid.

Keep checking TwitVid.com/Maroon5 to see when the contest launches.
