RIM officially releases BIS 2.8
by The PocketBerry Team
It’s a great day as we all know that BIS 2.8 has officially launched over the weekend with lots of great new features you’ll love. For the most part, there wasn’t much of a hype over it since a lot of what has been changed are services running in the background which the average consumer can well acknowledge that it is barely noticeable. As for the rest of us geeks, we are excited for all the new features with In this build, you’ll see that a lot of issues consumers were complaining about had been solved and features they wished for had finally come true for the most part in this build.
- Two-way wireless synchronization [every four hours] with Google Mail
- Synchronize Google Mail contacts quickly and easily to the BlackBerry smart phone
- Add or edit Contacts and the Contacts are automatically updated, whether they are updated on the computer or BlackBerry smart phone
- Automatic Login now supports most billing identifiers, which allows new subscribers with wireless service providers that use PIN, IMEI, or ESN as a billing identifier to create BlackBerry Internet Service accounts from the BlackBerry smart phone, without having to create a login user name and password
- With BlackBerry Internet Service 2.8, new Windows Live Hotmail mail integrations will be defaulted to a protocol that is designed so as not to require 90 day reauthorization.
- Also, confirmed by BBOS this morning, we realized that the “Send Service Books” option was now in the Help menu when logging into your carrier’s BIS website.
So how do you take advantage of the update? Login to your carrier’s BIS website and resend your service books via the Help tab. Perform a reset (battery pull) and you’ll be good to go. Let us know how you like it.
