The folks over at CB got their hands on the BlackBerry Curve 8530 for Verizon Wireless.  As we see in the screenshot, OS 5.0 is installed on the device, but we are all uncertain if the device will come with it loaded on there or is just there now as a prototype.  What was really interesting to see is that the box labeled Curve 2, rather than 8530.  People are certain that this is just an internal code name for it, but I don’t see it being unrealistic as the all new Storm 9550 is being titled the Storm2.  So where’s the big excitement and downfall in this device?  You’ll be getting WiFi built in, but no camera flash.  There are many out there who really don’t care about the camera flash, while other see it as the missing link.  As far as the WiFi goes,  we have the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 coming with it equipped, as well as the next BlackBerry Tour which will sacrifice its trackball for the new trackpad, and grow some WiFi modules.

This device differs from the 8520, as many confused that one was CDMA and other was GSM.  The 8530 will be rockin’ 3G along with a built in GPS receiver.  The 8520 as we seen for T-Mobile rocks the native WiFi capability with no 3G or built in GPS receiver.  Being a bigger disappointment would be the screen resolution being nothing out of the ordinary.  Sure video playback is great, but the over all quality of the screen just isn’t there.  If RIM’s objective here was to create a entry level BlackBerry for everyone it succeeded with the 8520, but 8530 is done up quite wrong.  There are mixed vibes and features in the BlackBerry Curve 8530 that just dont mesh well.  You have your WiFi, GPS, and 3G, but no hi-res screen.  You got a camera but no flash.  The device itself looks cosmetically nice, but feels a little cheap to some, as it is supposed to be an entry level device as many suggested.

We aren’t aware of the quality the 8530 will be versus the 8520, but for now, we’re going to assume that they’re right in the same ball park.  So this is what we’re trying to say.  We strongly believe that the 8520 is a good device to get as it is basic, but the 8530 should of added the little missing links in it as it already added WiFi, GPS, and 3G.
