With the launch of the BlackBerry Storm 2 and the availability of the device right around the corner, we are still finding that people are on high bid wars to purchase the device for prices as low as $700.  Is there any logic behind it?  Sure we see people getting phones months in advanced before they are released to flex a muscle, but how much “cool” face time are you going to make with your new Storm 2 given that it has already been announced and is days away from being available at your local cell phone shop.  I guess that quick minute of fame is worth the money.

It looks like RIM is on its wild adventure searching for a webkit developer to work on board with them.  We’ve had hints and promises in the past stating that a full flash enabled browser will be coming stock on the BlackBerry platform.  Most likely, we are pretty far from the idea as RIM is just looking for webkit developers now.  Everyone who’s waiting for flash, don’t hold your breath too long, as RIM will be taking its sweet time releasing this browser.

Google never seems to disappoint with all their new features they add in each update for their Google Maps BlackBerry application.  Version 3.2 has just launched overnight bringing layer features to maps.  So where’s the real conveniences here?  Layers make it really easy to view different types of info on your map.  For example, if your traveling somewhere or site seeing, you can turn on the Wikipedia layer which will tell you interesting facts and places near by right on the map.  Then you can easily route to the spot right through the same application.  Google Latitude is still an additional layer which you can turn on and off to track friends near by.

From an anonymous tip over at BBOS, we read about a possibility that RIM will be offering themes on the BlackBerry App World starting November 9th supposedly.  There is no confirmations or definite facts here as this is just a leaked hint and/or rumor.  It is predicted to be highly likely with the roll out of OS 5.0 and all its new features that it will bring to the BlackBerry platform.  Currently we’ve seen app stores such as MobiHand which come via desktop and BlackBerry, ranging in themes and applications as low as 99 cents.  The idea isn’t so far away for an expandable BlackBerry App World.
