Perhaps you own a BlackBerry device and have considered switching off to another device such as the Droid by Motorola or the Apple iPhone.  We have to admit that they’re commercials are great and convincing, but as a dedicated BlackBerry user, you come to realization that these are nothing but attacks on the amateur mobile user.

Do you use BlackBerry Messenger?  Exchanging BlackBerry PIN numbers have become more popular socially than the exchange of phone numbers.  With the recent add-on in OS 5.0, we can conveniently add friends on BlackBerry Messenger by simply scanning the bar code of your friend or coworker.  By leaving BlackBerry, you are leaving this BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) service behind, introducing yourself to SMS text and MMS picture messaging full time all over again.  In addition, you can enjoy wondering whether or not your friends received your message or not as SMS/MMS services on most cell phones do not indicate whether or not a message or picture has been received and opened.

Email is vital!  If you do own a BlackBerry, then you are definitely emailing on it whether it be personally or for business use.  Having an auto refreshing inbox to check for email every 15 minutes is quite annoying.  Push email is key with BlackBerry, and that’s where it beats any other smartphone on the market.  Sure the iPhone provides a “push service” to a certain extent, but enjoy additionally subscribing to MobileMe for an additional annual cost on top of your monthly $30 data plan.

And as for the Android platform?  It’s an interesting concept, but we’re not all open source nuts to drool over the customization and loose attributes the OS holds.  Lots of great applications are available for both the iPhone and the Android devices, but BlackBerry is doing a great job keeping up and making it to the top.  Given that the BlackBerry was once strictly for business users who needed instant email, it has done a great job in enhancements for the consumer as well.  With the introduction to the BlackBerry App World, applications and new features become endless.

So before you consider switching out to another device, consider all the features you will be missing out on and then you will start to appreciate your BlackBerry a little bit more.
