The Shortcut Guide for your BlackBerry

BlackBerry devices aren’t the hardest devices to get acquainted with. Sure it has an intensive user guide included with each device when purchased, but there are always tips and tricks you’ll learn to pick up on your own. We thought it would be very essential to learn some key shortcuts including aspects of AutoText, changing signal meters to numerical values, viewing event logs, and soft resets. For instance, it can get quite annoying doing a battery pull every time your Berry freezes. What if there was a shortcut to reset your phone without pulling out your battery or installing an application? Sure basic operations are good enough to know, but these tips and tricks will help better your BlackBerry experience. Continue reading to get the full scoop on the tips and tricks.
AutoText:
- LD_ (_=space) inserts local date into a message.
- LT_ (_=space) inserts local time into a message.
- mypin_ (_=space) inserts your PIN into a message.
- sig_ (_=space) inserts your lock screen message into a message.
- myver_ (_=space) inserts your BB model/OS into a message.
- usrid_ (_=space) inserts your user ID (whatever name you named your device) into a message.
- mynumber_ (_=space) inserts your phone number into a message.
Change signal meter to numerical value:
- Press the ALT key, and press NMLL to change to numerical value
- Press the ALT key, and press NMLL to change to bar value
View the Event Log:
- Press the ALT key, and pres LGLG
Soft Reset:
- Press the ALT key + the right Shift key + the Delete key
Home Screen Shortcuts:
(Note – you must disable home screen dialing first to use these)
- “F” – Profiles
- “N” – BBM
- “C” – Compose (typically email)
- “V” – Saved Messages
- “B” – Browser
- “M” – Message (Email unless you have them grouped then both)
- “L” – Calendar
- “K” – Keylock
- “D” – Memopad
- “S” – Search
- “A” – Address Book
- “W” – Wap Browser (unless you have Berry Weather then it’s that app)
- “T” – Tasks
- “U” – Calculator
- “O” – Options
- “P” – Phone
