Want to install a BlackBerry operating system that’s not for your carrier?  This is all possible and folks tend to get confused when doing so.  We haven’t ever posted a how to on installing an OS in the past as we apologize we didn’t do so sooner.  So for all those wondering, here’s the tips and tricks of the week, month, or even year as this will help you through any BlackBerry OS installation that isn’t the same carrier version as your device.

1. Download the OS file to the PC/Mac then install it by running the file downloaded.
2. After running it, go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\Apploader and delete the file named “vendor.xml.”
3. Plug in your BlackBerry and double click on the application called “Loader.exe.” It can be found in the same place as the vendor.xml file that you deleted in Step 2.

Your OS will take from 20-45 minutes to complete depending on how much data and information you have. In the event that you end up with a white screen with small icons and the error number 507, have no fear! All you’ll have to do is go back and connect to your PC or Mac again and run the Loader.exe to do so.  If you have any questions, drop us a line!

I tried to do this, with no luck. Probably something I'm doing wrong. But once I download the os onto my pc and install it. I can't find the file once I run the loader.exe file. Bottom line, I can't run the upgrade for my phone. any ideas?
