The wait is over for all you T-Mobile folks in North America.  The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is officially available to purchase for $199.99.  As you all know, this is the best BlackBerry being offered by the carrier.  But wait, is this a 8900 or 9700? It looks like T-Mobile made a mistake picturing the BlackBerry Curve 8900 rather than the Bold 9700.  But the device is indeed available, so have no fear.  Head over to T-Mobile today and grab your BlackBerry Bold 9700.

Just to clear up some rumors floating around about this new Tour coming out sometime in 2010, it is not the exact same replica as the Bold 9700.  We’ve received loads of emails and comments asking about the new Tour and its release along with specs, so here’s some quick facts from our buddy Salomondrin who is fortunate enough to have the device at hand currently.

STORMOS

Yet another leak appears for the BlackBerry Storm 9500.  If you haven’t downloaded OS 5.0 to your device yet, you may consider just to see what wonders it will bring to your BlackBerry experience.  This is OS 5.0.0.328 for the BlackBerry Storm 9500.  This is NOT compatible with any other Storm model including the 9530, 9550, or 9520.  The OS is a leaked version and isn’t official either, so download and install at your own risk.  If you do decide to, let us know what changes you see.  Enjoy.

Here’s an interesting and funny video brought to you by Comedy.com where they show the official Twitter Spokesman speaking about how Twitter users consistently complain about on going issues and how the Twitter team doesn’t care.  Again this is a comical video, so do not take anything serious.  Of course, this isn’t directly connected to the BlackBerry user, but is at the same time.  Let’s face it.  Many of you Berry users and abusers are using various Twitter clients remotely on your BlackBerry devices.  So yes, this message is directed to you! Enjoy the video and let us know what you think.

Here’s a unique Today theme that gives you a BlackBerry Messenger icon on the home screen.  It seems to be the missing link in many Today themes these days, but somebody finally stepped up their game and did it.  This theme is only for the BlackBerry Bold 9000.  Special thanks to draco1277 for providing this theme.  It is currently available as a .zip file, meaning you’ll have to install it through BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

wordpress-blackberry

It’s that time around again, and WordPress for BlackBerry has gone through quite a nice update.  Here is beta version 0.9.0.169 but version 1.0 is promised to be releasing very soon.  If you think about it, we have been through quite a few beta versions of WordPress.  Anyway, here’s the new updates in this build:

  • Based on all the great feedback, we reworked much of the UI layout for the main view, blog view, and media view
  • Ability to upload videos from your media library
  • New option to set media file properties (filename, caption, title, and position)
  • Created a new file browser that resembles the native BlackBerry file browser
  • Big improvements in the speed at which you can view and manage comments
  • Lots of optimizations for uploading photos and videos using base64 encoding
  • Indonesian language support updated thanks to Kate of Pixel Insert
  • Improved French language support thanks to Yann Nave of blog.onbebop.net

BBappworld

As we learned at the DevCon, RIM announced the planning of providing other means of purchasing items on the BlackBerry App World.  Now it is primarily through PayPal, but by 2010 we will be seeing carrier billing capability.  What does this mean?  Basically you can purchase an item right through BlackBerry App World, then have it added to your monthly phone bill.  Benefits?  It’ll be a simpler way to purchase items now, especially for those who do not have PayPal.  And as for the bad side, children with BlackBerry devices are going to have a field day downloading premium apps while mommy and daddy will have to take care of the 3+ digit bill payments at the end of the month.

How creative can it get?  A few months back we showed you the Rogers BlackBerry Curve blocked out of ice. This year at the BlackBerry Developer Conference, Verizon has displayed a huge Tour device with a working screen exemplifying Vcast services completely made out of legos.

Do you own a BlackBerry Storm 9530?  Perhaps you’d like to upgrade to the Storm2 9550 or even a Droid device.  Verizon is starting to send out emails to its customers letting them know about this special offer.  Get in touch with a Verizon Wireless representative near you and find out if your eligible for this great offer.  By upgrading with this offer, you’ll be signing up with a two-year strings attached contract.
