Providence Police Supervisors are rockin’ BlackBerry
by The PocketBerry Team
Police enforcement all over the world have started to gain larger interests in equipping officers with BlackBerry devices. Police Chief Dean M. Esserman of Providence, RI has recently issues 92 BlackBerry Curves 8900 devices to all of the Police Department supervisors (ranks from sergeant to major if you were curious). So what’s the benefits of equipping officers with these devices besides downtime playing BrickBreaker? The alleged assumption that it will provide better communication between officers on investigations, by then making it highly likely that crimes will be solved. Once upon a time, walkie talkies and Nextel chirping cellphones grew popular amongst law enforcement, but it looks like BlackBerry is the new vibe they’re all trying to get into. “The BlackBerry technology is this department’s newest crime-fighting tool, providing … supervisors with complete and immediate access to the department’s records management and communications systems any time, any place, allowing officers to have access to everything they need while working in the field,” Esserman said.
