RIM is encouraging theme builders to use Adobe Photoshop to help enhance the current theme building. So apparently Adobe Photoshop and BlackBerry Theme Studio go hand in hand with each other when it comes to building themes. RIM has posted a whole article which includes how to make Photoshop your default image editor as well as importing and editing images to use for your theme.
