Activate BIS in Saudi Arabia with a text message

For the mjaority of carriers in the United States, it has become mandatory to have a data plan when upgrading or purchasing a BlackBerry.  Of course many are still floating around with them, which us data plan users still don’t get why you even have a BlackBerry to begin with.  Let’s say you’re one of those people with a BIS-less BlackBerry.  If you wanted to activate BIS, you’d have to do so online (many are restricted), go into a retail store location of your carrier, or call in customer service to activate.

In Saudi Arabia, the top leading carrier Mobily has made BIS activation a charm.  Making it easily activated but customers of all ages, you can simply send an SMS message (text message) to have BIS activated on your BlackBerry.  So basically just send a message to the number “1100″ with the message saying “BIS” and you’ll be good to go on this 2GB data plan.  This deal goes for both prepaid and postpaid (under contract) customers.  On a side note, we find it funny that the Saudis write out BlackBerry in two words as “Black Berry.”
