From what we understood, App Planet, is a new and upcoming event which RIM refers to as an “event within the event” which is going to be targeted towards developers. BlackBerry Developer Day will be featured in App Planet, which is scheduled to be on February 16, 2010. You can easily check out the full schedule of what’s going to be going on there by clicking here. So where’s the event being held? Barcelona. Not exactly domestic this time. At the event, expect to meet with RIM executives as well as other developers. If you’re a BlackBerry application developer, look at this as an opportunity to link up with other developers like yourself as well as BlackBerry solutions experts. An invitation code is required to attend the conference, but you can sign up without a code for a chance to have a slot in.

As we all know that Wind Mobile made its big launch today in Canada, becoming another carrier alternative for folks in the area. We came across an interesting article over at Bloomberg talking about the BlackBerry Bold 9700 coming to the carrier already. Contract terms and such have not yet been stated yet but the going price for the device will be C$450. From our general assumption, we strongly believe this will be held over a two-year term (possible 3, but we’re hoping not at such a high price). Stay tuned for more info on Wind Mobile.

At first glance, SplashMoney appears to be an easy app to deal with. This holds true as you continue to use it. It is fully customizable, all the way up to different colors for the highlight bars and names for your accounts, the different information you want available for your accounts, and (naturally) the different currency types available. There is an option for a password to keep unwanted parties away from your accounts, which could be very important should you choose to fill out your account number
When adding an account, it is as easy as filling out the name, beginning balance, and an optional account number, should you be like a few of us who cannot remember these numbers for anything. You can label the type of account it is, such as a checking, savings, etc, and to choose a nifty little image from the ones they provide. Once you have the accounts set up, it is a checkbook or multiple in one. In addition, you put in your own transactions, giving them a description and labeling them as deposits, charges, ATMs, payments, and even checks for which you specify the number of next to. The process itself is very simple and easy to figure out yourself. What happens if you mess up and nothing adds up? Simple. Just purge and create a new starting account balance. You can also purge your transactions, say, at the beginning of each month and keep that balance so as not to take up too much memory. Continue reading for more info on Splash Money, including likes, dislikes, and in depth application screenshots.
