bbm50055

In just several days, we’ve had three leaks of a new BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 update.  The latest we had was a 5.0.0.54, but now we see 5.0.0.55 leak out.  What we’re really happy to see is that it is no longer 4MB and has been brought back down to 2.4MB.  Of course we have plenty of memory these days on the BlackBerry to spare, but still!  So there currently is no explanation yet for the huge memory increase and drastic decrease back now out of nowhere.  Also, there seems to be no change log for this one, but if you do see anything new, let us know.  Any way, this is not an official release so download at your own risk.  We’ll try our best to get you more mirror links out to avoid lag and failed downloads.  In addition, we’ll continue updating this post as we see any changes in this version.  Enjoy.

UPDATE: It looks like this build might go up official as Bla1ze has found some interesting info.

UPDATE2: This version has been officially released by RIM.  The wait is finally over! Point your browser to BlackBerry.com/messenger to download today.

storm2 os

To take a break from all the Bold 9700 OS leaks, here’s one for the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550.  It’s been awhile since we had a leak for it, so here’s OS 5.0.0.428.  Of course this is a leaked OS so download and install at your own risk.  If you decide to do so, let us know about any change logs you see.

blackberry-pearl-9100-comparison-1.jpeg

Finally some more footage of the new BlackBerry Pearl 9100.  We had small teasers here and there along with a short video with some ins and outs on the device, but of course we are not yet satisfied.  Here’s some nice comparison photos to flick through really quck just to give you a better idea of the device’s size and overall build versus the older 8100 model.

textender

Don’t you hate that some of you cannot type beyond 160 characters in a text message? Your text messages should not be limited to the size of tweets.  For that reason, Textender allows you to type well beyond 160 characters.  As a Deal of the Day special from the PocketBerry App Store, it is going for only 99 cents today.

Features:

  • Send messages beyond 140/160 characters
  • Send to up to 6 recipients at any given time
  • When selecting a recipient Textender defaults to the mobile number for the contact
  • Can be accessed while composing a text/sms
  • Stand alone app which can be assigned to a convenience key
  • Displays a message count so the user is aware how many messages they are sending
  • Sent messages will be saved as one whole message in native message app on the BlackBerry
  • Textender works on 5.0 but has to be accessed via the icon only, we are currently working on an update to allow it to be access via the native SMS app as well as some other general improvements!
  • **Please Note: Your carrier will still charge you for the total number of messages sent, not for one message each time Textender is used**
