Miscellaneous Thoughts »

Cell phones and automobiles seem to be going hand in hand quite frequently these days. It used to be iPod connections to the head unit, and now that it has become a cliche, it’s time for cell phones to link up with cars. Several months ago, we saw the Mini Cooper application for BlackBerry, which was outstanding considering that all your roadside assistance could be done within it, rather than dialing numbers and fondling with buttons in the car. The long waited 2011 Chevrolet Volt is finally coming up soon, as we all got to see bits and pieces from it with the LA Auto Show not too long ago. Also introduced along with it was an application releasing for the BlackBerry which will feature alerts about the vehicles charging status as well as other “indicators” we aren’t sure about which may include fuel, fluids, mileage, etc. GM is supposedly releasing something on this new application so stay tuned for more as we get the general specifics.

There really is no way to tell, but the blogs are going on about it as there is no actual “solid” on it, other than this screenshot we got over from CrackBerry. The screenshot displays tweets sent back and forth using a Twitter app for BlackBerry as you can see. Considering that the talk on tweets are consisted of the BlackBerry App World downloading, we assume that the tweets are as old as when the App World launched. We tried going back to these Twitter users to see if they still were using this alleged “Twitter for BlackBerry” but did not find any tips or hints there.
An interesting point that was made by CrackBerry was that the site BlackBerry.com/Twitter takes you to RIM’s 404 error stating that “the page you have requested has been moved or no longer exists.” There’s all sorts of leaks and rumors from RIM that the client is indeed coming, but in the end, no one knows yet as no beta or leaked app has been released on any sites just yet.

OS Updates »

BlackBerry Tor 9630 5.0 leaks have been the hardest to come by lately. Of course there are always download links floating around, but the majority of them are no longer active. So here’s OS 5.0.0.303 for the BlackBerry Tour 9630. This is a leaked OS so if you decide to download and install, do so at your own risk. Let us know if you see any changes in this version as we haven’t tried this one yet. Since it is a leak, don’t expect the link to be active for awhile so download while you still can. Enjoy.

It looks like we got another leak this week for BlackBerry Messenger. If you can recall, earlier this week we had a 5.0.0.52 leak of BlackBerry Messenger which many were satisfied by. As it really didn’t have many noticeable changes, many reported that file sharing worked properly and when ending a conversation, it prompted you with a confirm to do so (yes or no). Here’s the 5.0.0.54 build which we don’t expect to see major changes as well. Once again, it is brought to you by BBHybrids. As for size, we realized its a while 4.3MB file while the last was just about half the size at 2.4MB. Why? We don’t know yet but we’re going to find out. To our knowledge so far, this will only work on OS 5.0 devices. If you find out otherwise, drop us a line in a comment and let us know. We have about 5 mirror links, so choose whichever is working fastest for you. Enjoy.
UPDATE LOG: So far we’re seeing that when receiving a picture, the preview button shows a larger image rather than the smaller icon size as 5.0.0.52 BBM did. Stay tuned for more as we discover!

We’re not sure how long this promo has been out or how many of you saw this but we definitely had to share it with you. We came across this page by AT&T which is promoting the all new BlackBerry Bold 9700. It’s titled “A Bold Step Ahead” as the whole page exemplifies how the Bold 9700 will help better your life, introducing to all the little bits and features included in the device.

Who remembers those sexy headphones that came with the BlackBerry Bold 9000? Instantly after, we stopped seeing them bundled with other BlackBerry devices as we thought they would become the new norm. If you broke your pair (as I did), you learned quick that a new pair would cost you about $50. Not that convenient to pay, especially after purchasing the Bold 9000 with a two year contract for $399.99. So now we see the headphones drop down to $19.95, making a deal and a half to purchase. These headphones have a built-in microphone on the wire, so feel free to jam your latest beats and make phone calls all from these BlackBerry premium stereo headphones.

BlackBerry Celebrities »

We all know that the BlackBerry Bold 9000 has been the top choice of famous celebrities all year. Within most of our BlackBerry Celebrities posts, the Bold 9000 makes most of its appearances in their hands along with a signature Starbucks cup (usually venti or grande). Sure we saw Chris Brown standing alone rockin’ a Storm, and Rihanna still in disturbia keeping a Curve close to her at all times. Or how about our favorite Kim Kardashian who might as well be a walking advertisement for the BlackBerry. Now we’re starting to see celebrities such as Tara Reid rock the new BlackBerry Bold 9700. We all know she went to the launch party for the device, but it looks like she’s grown attached to it and has kept the non-carrier branded 9700.
