One of the coolest gadgets we’re excited to get our hands on is definitely the ZAGGsparq. For those who haven’t heard of it, here’s the quick scoop on it. The ZAGGsparq is shaped similar to a Apple MacBook charger which has two USB ports on it. The ZAGGsparq gets plugged into the wall and charges itself for a few hours. Then you can plug you BlackBerry in via USB and charge without having the ZAGGsparq in the wall as it holds about 4 charges worth. Any device you have that can charge via USB will work with the ZAGGsparq. Continue reading to check out the full video, along with a link to start shopping today at ZAGG.

So yesterday’s outage was a quite interesting lesson and experience. I realized how much reliance was on BlackBerry yesterday as I’m sure many of you did as well. Some stuff I was disabled from doing was finding out if the Sonic Drive-In a few miles down the road was still open or not, and using Garmin GPS Navigation on the way back to Jersey from far down south Pennsylvania. With all that said, it becomes necessary to have a “Plan B” or emergency strategy. We decided to put together this BlackBerry Emergency Kit just in case we encounter another outage. This way we’ll be able to cope around a bit. The kit is pretty much based on Google Mobile texting, which a lot of you took for granted and thought you’d never need it since you could just download the application.

We promised we’d look into what exactly happened last night and after getting in touch with folks from RIM, our information was very limited but was narrowed down to the fact that the 5.0.0.56 was not a good build and you needed to update to 5.0.0.57 as many of you received notifications to do so in the Messages folder this morning. So BlackBerry Messenger was the cause of our tragic outage issue. Just a few hours ago, we saw that CNN is doing some reporting on other BlackBerry users and abusers who were affected big time by the outage. You should definitely check that out if you thought you were the only one who was hurting. This worldwide problem affected everybody! So back to RIM, we have a full statement from below providing some general specifics on the outage that occurred yesterday, which CrackBerry also confirms is true from RIM. Continue reading to check out the full explanation from RIM.

It looks like BlackBerry services are currently getting up and running. Not totally, but many are reporting that messages are starting to come in including BlackBerry Messenger and emails. So keep patient as it will get better in the next few hours. Think about all the messages worldwide that are going through all these tunnels getting through to BlackBerry users like you. So again, be patient and expect to give it a few hours. So how was the outage for many of you? It’s been a long outage today as BlackBerry services were inactive well over six hours today. It started off as a BlackBerry Messenger outage, then it further went to email and browser issues as well. All BlackBerry services became disabled at that point. We had reports from users all around the world that had these services down then later got confirmation that the outage was indeed worldwide. We don’t have an explanation for the outage just yet, but we’ll be sure to have something in next few hours into tomorrow.

As many folks can’t even use BlackBerry Messenger right now due to the outage, RIM has decided to put out their latest update for it. Here’s 5.0.0.57 of BlackBerry Messenger. The last update we had ranking at 5.0.0.56 fixed the missing check spelling. We have no log on this one just yet, but you can go ahead and download it once your BlackBerry is back in order and let us know about any changes you see.

Before we even began looking around and asking people about BBM outages, we’ve been going quite nuts here ourselves. BlackBerry Messenger has been giving us trouble for the past three hours where messages aren’t being sent on time, out of order, and not at all. Some of us are Verizon users where we blamed it on the carrier, or even phone as Dana has above but that didn’t suffice especially when my Bold 9700 was going wild too doing the same nonsense. So far we have far west coast users via Verizon and AT&T and east coast users via T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T that are experiencing the outage. If you are currently having issues in your area, drop us a line below so we can add you to our list. We’ll continue updating this post as we hear more info on the outage.
UPDATE- Further outages in:
- Canada via Bell Mobility, Telus, and Rogers
- Netherlands via Digicel and UTS
- Seattle, WA via AT&T
- Detroit via Verizon
- NJ/NY via AT&T
- Panama via Digicel
- Florida via MetroPCS
- Pennsylvania via Sprint
- Indonesia via Unknown carriers
