buzzd for bb

The famous social application buzzd is going through a nice update releasing tomorrow.  So what’s new?  Now with buzzd you’ll have the ability to socialize.  And by socialize we mean you’ll be able to see what others have buzzd in the feed section and view pictures and profiles of other buzzd members.  In addition, you can add and invite your friends from any email address including Gmail, Hotmail, and AOL.  The buzzdmeter is a pretty cool concept where you can sort everything by categories (bars, clubs, restaurants, etc).  You can update your Facebook and Twitter statuses based on your buzzd venue right then in there all in the same applcation.  Rating has become a lot easier as you’ll simply give a thumbs up or down for the place.  One of the coolest features we saw in it was that you can see who’s at your favorite spots at the time, so you’ll know if you should go in advanced.  So expect the application to release tomorrow at 10am.  We’ll be sure to give you a full hands on once released.  Hit the jump for the full press release.

Capture14_27_1

Is Tweeteev still in production?  Many of us are confused as to what’s going on with it.  The hype built up for some time as we were teased with release dates and spoon-fed some screenshots.  We spotted some YouTube videos today on folks using Tweeteev on their BlackBerry devices.  I was curious as to whether or not there was a new leak out that we were unaware of but found nothing.  I went back to our link back in September where we posted an OTA link for the Tweeteev leak, and it still seems to be working.  The app still is a bit buggy, but if you’ve been so curious like everybody else as to what Tweeteev can bring to you, be sure to check it out.

inside bb site

The official BlackBerry blog called Inside BlackBerry just went through some changes in redesigning the site.  It looks like they are getting more into social networking as they have them all listed on the right hand side, more visible to viewers like you.  In addition, we noticed that the commenting system now is DISQUS, allowing you to use your Twitter, Facebook, or DISQUS ID to login and comment.  Head over to Inside BlackBerry today and check it out.

Liquid-Theme

Everytime Elecite pops a theme, I find myself saying “this is my favorite theme.” It’s not like I’m lying to you.  Elecite continues to bring out the highest end themes you can possibly have on a BlackBerry.  Here’s the first theme released since the site has been redesigned called Liquid.  Liquid brings you five customizable icons down below with some incredible shortcuts up top, which some have drop down menus.  Definitely a theme you need to purchase today, especially with Elecite’s promotion going til the end of the month where all themes are 50% off.  So Liquid will end up costing you only $3.49 today for the limited time offer.

bing logo

Traditionally, we were able to choose between Dictionary.com, Google.com, and Wikipedia.  Recently Verizon BlackBerry users went through some crazy changes over night where nothing but Microsoft Bing search was available on the Go to home screen of the BlackBerry Browser.  But it hasn’t affected everyone just yet.  Currently, I’m rockin’ the 9700 (AT&T), Curve 8530 (Verizon), and Storm2 (Verizon).  The Curve 8530 has went ahead and transformed to Bing exclusively, but my Storm2 remains to have all of the usual: Google, Live Search, Wikipedia, and Dictionary.com.  Maybe it will be a matter of time until it happens by updating on its own.  How many of you are affected?

UPDATE: I just realized that the BlackBerry Curve 8530 comes stock with the Bing app along with Bing search default on the Go To page.

human voice ringers

A few weeks ago, we had a request from user shoter14 to post some human voice ringtones.  It was funny that it came up today in our app store as a brand new product.  In this bundle, you’ll get 900 ringtones and notifications all for $7.99.  The offer is limited until December 24th, as it will bump back up to $9.99.  So what do you get in this bundle? Real human voices alert you of incoming calls, and also notify you of a variety of alerts. Recorded by professional voice actors in world-class studios, these voices sound real because they are real!  Spice up your phone with these hot voices telling you that you got a new e-mail, a new text, that your boss or relatives are calling, and dozens more.

As we told you in our first impressions on the BlackBerry Curve 8530, the battery appears to be the same as the 83xx series.  At first we expected the battery to hold out quite long with usage, but it turns out the battery will go out pretty fast throughout the day.  Of course the Bold 9700 has its incredible battery life as it uses the same 9000 battery, but just works ten times longer on a 9700.  Not to compare the two at all, but the reason we expected longer battery life was just because the 8530 is a newer device and maybe RIM would of done the same 9700 magic on it as well.
