Many of you love those visualizations on your BlackBerry when charging.  I like to call them screen savers.  Here is Free Earth Screen Saver which shows your BlackBerry’s charging status by turning the Earth to desert or refilling oceans.  You can also set it to show the Earth very briefly while the backlight is off (timed out).

If you decide to go with the full version, it shows a clock, date, battery, temperature, charging target alarms, and other configuration options.  Either way, check out this freebie and if you like it a lot, give the premium a shot.

Compatibility:

  • For Free Earth for 4.2.1 – 4.6.x – BlackBerry: 7130c, 7130e, 7130g, 7130v, 8100 (Pearl), 8110 (Pearl), 8120 (Pearl), 8130 (Pearl), 8220 (Pearl Flip), 8230 (Pearl Flip), 8300 (Curve), 8310 (Curve), 8320 (Curve), 8330 (Curve), 8350i (Curve), 8520 (Curve), 8700, 8700c, 8700f, 8700g, 8700r, 8700v, 8703e, 8705g, 8707g, 8707h, 8707v, 8800, 8820, 8830, 8900 (Curve), 8930 (Curve), 9000 (Bold)

Now here’s a theme with some nice options and widgets most haven’t seen implemented on a BlackBerry.  Before most of you get worried, this theme is for both touch screen and QWERTY BlackBerry smartphones.  Here’s a quick walk through for trackball/trackpad navigation:

  • Scroll Down to get to messages on navigation screen
  • Scroll Right from messages to get to calendar
  • Scroll Down from messages/calendar to hidden today or Close notifications button (if no messages/events are displayed will go straight to close button)
  • Scroll Down after clicking on Close to get to Theme button 6
  • shift + A launches about screen
  • shift + S launches google search
  • shift + H hides google search
  • shift + G shows google search
  • $ = profiles

BerryWeather is one of the most popular best selling weather applications available for BlackBerry.  Recently they updated to version 2.0, adding a lot of new features.  They have just released BeWeather Free to the BlackBerry App World as a freebie version of BerryWeather and/or BeWeather.  The application is completely ad-free with some nice options as well.  You can keep track up to three different locations receiving 5 day forecasts.  There a lot more options on BeWeather including 7 day forecasts, radar maps, web cam support, and much more.  Either way, definitely check out BeWeather Free over at the BlackBerry App World.

Wow, didn’t the BlackBerry Curve 8520 release oh so long ago? It sure did.  Yes, there are other Canadian carriers who have the BlackBerry Curve 8520, but other than being branded, Fido will offer better pricing for their products and services.  Who’s their real competition here? From the look of it, Fido is looking to compete with Virgin Mobile to get its BlackBerry customers.

So we’ve got the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and BlackBerry Curve 85xx with the trackpad while the Tour 2 9650 comes our way with one also.  In the past, there have been replacement trackballs that came in different colors allowing you to pimp out your Berry.  Now we see trackpads come in different colors other than the traditional black.  Currently we spotted a red and blue colored one thanks to @Videos4BB who posted so today.  The colored trackpads are only $5.99 to purchase so it’s not much of a risk other than the fact that you’ll have to open up your BlackBerry’s guts!

Head over to True Supplier today and grab your new BlackBerry Trackpad in red or blue.

Who here likes free applications? I know I do.  Especially when it’s apps such as this one where it does so much for you.  Included in Free Juice Berry is a memory freer, video flashlight, event log shortcut, voicemail shortcut, and other shortcuts such as new SMS message, pin message, email, memo, and task.  The one-touch memory freer runs automatically in the background just as BerryJoose does for you.

With the one touch video flashlight, it will use your video camera app to turn on the light and keeps the camera app from turning it off as it would normally.

One-touch video flashlight uses your video camera app to turn the bright video light on, then keeps the camera app from turning it off (as it normally does after a short time unless recording) until you click it off. LogCut icon opens the phone’s event log viewer, which shows many details of the phone’s operational history, including messages from apps intended to help with customer service and debugging. The viewer can clear the log, filter it for easier searching, and copy parts of it to send to support personnel.  So head over to the PocketBerry Store today and grab your free copy of Free Juice Berry.

OS Updates »

[12 Jan 2010 | No Comment | ]

Thanks for the hat tip from Victoria who just sent this in.  A1 has just released their latest OS for the BlackBerry Storm 9500 ranking it at 5.0.0.425.  So far we’re not disappointed with the official OS 5.0 releasing everywhere officially.  Leak installs aren’t so essential any more (for some of us it really was).  Any way, so this is the official OS 5.0.0.425 released by A! for the BlackBerry Storm 9500.

Our friends over at BerryReview got sent an image from one of their sources of the all new BlackBerry Curve 8910.  The device is said to have os 5.0 installed according to Ronen and a bunch of other new features like the trackpad.  Yes, the trackpad has become the new norm with BlackBerry devices so get used to them, and definitely enjoy them.  Any way, some rumors we heard was that the BlackBerry Curve 8910 is not going to come 3G and will be running over the EDGE network.  Other sites have claimed that it will have 3G, but we don’t know yet.
