Some themes may switch up your signal meter to graphical meters and what not. Here’s a simple trick you can do with your BlackBerry to transform those bars as seen above to a numerical value instead. I don’t know how useful you may find it, but it is definitely more “cool” than it is savvy.
- 1. Go to your home screen.
- 2. Start off by pressing the ALT key, and press NMLL to change to numerical value.
- 3. To switch back, perform the same function by again pressing the ALT key, and press NMLL to change to bar value.
UPDATE: For the BlackBerry Storm:
- 1. Open the keyboard on home screen. Easy way of doing this is setting one of your convenience keys to “Virtual Keyboard.”
- 2. Hold the ‘!?123′ button to enable the number lock.
- 3. Type an exclamation point, a comma, and two sets of double quotation marks.
- 4. Type the same thing over again to go back to graphic bar display.

After the success of the Command & Conquer: Red Alert for BlackBerry, Tiberium Wars came next. The critically acclaimed Command & Conquer series returns with Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars™ on your BlackBerry! The groundbreaking strategic battle game immerses you in combat. Join the GDI to reclaim the region taken by Kane and his evil Brotherhood of NOD. Embark on an adrenaline fueled single player campaign to stop the launch of a deadly weapon, or take on the action packed Skirmish mode to test your strategic wits. Defend your base at all costs. The game is very accurate to what you would play on a PC (of course not with all the incredible graphics) but a really good job has been done in developing this game. I just went through a quick demo and haven’t sat and played it through just yet, but I’m very excited to try it out. Use the link below to purchase today for only $6.99, or to read more info and see screenshots.
Compatibility: 8100 Pearl, 8110 Pearl, 8120 Pearl, 8130 Pearl, 8220 Pearl Flip, 8230 Pearl Flip, 8300 Curve, 8310 Curve, 8320 Curve, 8330 Curve, 8330m, 8350i, 8520 Curve, 8530 Curve, 8800, 8820, 8830, 8900 Curve, 9000 Bold, 9500 Storm, 9520 Storm 2, 9530 Storm, 9550 Storm 2, 9630 Tour, 9700 Bold

No change log this time folks. PocketBerry commenter sh00gn1te let us know that his Bolt Browser got prompted with an update today bringing it to version 1.62 with no change log to our knowledge just yet. Other online publications such as BBLeaks have confirmed it to be legit update, but still no word on changes. For me personally, I haven’t been using Bolt Browser much, but would like to start using it more starting today. Bol Browser allows you to view websites as they are on a PC or Mac and promises to load a site in seconds. If you haven’t given Bolt Browser a test run, do so today by pointing your BlackBerry Browser to boltbrowser.com or use the link below.

Andrew over at BGR got an inventory screenshot of what looks like to be hinting that the BlackBerry Curve 8330 is coming to Boost Mobile January 13. We’re a little shocked that it is an 8330 and not an 8350i. To our knowledge, Boost Mobile gives the “walkie-talkie” or “chirp” equipped in their devices but the Curve 8330 is straight up a CDMA device. For $249.99, you’ll have the Curve 8330, and get unlimited talk, text, and web for only $70 per month. These prepaid plans just keep getting better as in today’s age, they seem to be a lot more feasible than what many others pay under contract. For example, a plan over AT&T with a 450 minute plan, unlimited text and web will amount to atleast $90 per month. Prepaid is something to start thinking about next if you’re not already with that vibe. Continue reading to check out more inventory screenshots.

These devices always give me a good laugh. It’s amazing seeing how far manufacturers in other countries will go just to immitate a product. Earlier in March, we saw the HTC Maple which rocked the trackball and we all claimed it was copying the BlackBerry. What do we have to say about this device which rocks the word “BlackBerry” on it? As you can see by the screenshots below (click to enlarge), OS 5.0 doesn’t seem to be on there either. Nice try guys. We’ve definitely seen better jobs done on BlackBerry OS lookalikes, but this is just sloppy. This “limited edition” phony BlackBerry is going for $158 on eBay, brand new in the box with a TV antenna, stylus, and 2GB of storage. Given that this device is obviously based on the Storm, how many of you would like to see a new Storm with a slide-out keyboard this size?

Looking to be fashionable with your Berry just as you are with fashion? The latest theme by Cocky Culture called Revelation gives your BlackBerry style and class. The buttons are all customized to match the sleek backgrounds based on shades of blue. What we really liked about the theme was that it’s very responsive and fast, not lagging like a lot of these high color graphical themes out there. For only $3.95, you can have this theme on your BlackBerry.
- Compatibility: 83xx, 85xx, 88xx, 8900, 9000, 96xx, 9700, 95xx

It was really intriguing when I saw their press release line which read “Start Your Car from Virtually Anywhere with Your BlackBerry.” We’ve been teased with the iPhone experience of the Viper’s all new SmartStart app which basically allows you to start your car remotely through your mobile. The app is of course expanding itself to the BlackBerry platform, which seems a lot more feasible if you ask me. The SmartStart application for BlackBerry will show off at CES 2010 but we still aren’t sure on its open availability just yet as the iPhone app has been available since October. Viper SmartStart for BlackBerry will be a free application to be offered in the BlackBerry App World. But don’t get too excited. You’d have to also have a SmartStart kit by Viper installed in your vehicle which is about $299.99. Continue reading for the full press release.

Whether you’re looking to attend CES 2010 or not, you should definitely download CES Mobile to keep up with what’s going on at the event January 7-10. The app is definitely not as nice as the BlackBerry Developers Conference one, but it will certainly get you buy and come in handy to see which exhibitors will be there and short bio info. OS Updates »

We’re a little late in mentioning but we just got a tip email from Christina B. that OS 5.0.0.436 has been leaked for the BlackBerry Storm 2 9520. You know the drill. It’s leaked so download and install at your own risk and don’t expect the link to work for a very long time so get it while you can. This is OS 5.0.0.436 for the BlackBerry Storm 2 9520 only and is not compatible with any other models. Enjoy.
