Seesmic for BlackBerry has just gone through a nice update today giving support to BIS-B and image previewing.  In previous builds of Seesmic, we’ve seen small bug fixes but this time we’re excited to actually see enhancements as well as new features get implemented.

So what else is new? Google Maps is now in play with Seesmic.  When viewing a location of a Twitter user, you’ll be able to use Google Maps.  According to the Seesmic blog, you can now delete tweets you send out, which I personally didn’t know that it wasn’t available before to begin with.  To go back to the image previewing.  Before you couldn’t see picture previews within the actual time line, but now it looks like the function has been added.

Point your BlackBerry Browser to seesmic.com to download over the air.

Doctors and volunteers from all over the world have been putting in their time and efforts providing aid for those in need in Haiti.  After the tragic incidents, mobile carriers such as T-Mobile are doing their best to contribute to the cause.  Today they have just announced that they are waiving all calls to and from Haiti.  “Our company and our employees care deeply for our customers, and we know that many customers have been directly impacted by the disaster in Haiti,” said Robert Dotson, president and CEO, T-Mobile USA. “While our thoughts go out to those in Haiti who are suffering so greatly at this time, our promise is to help people connect with those who matter most. I can think of no better time to demonstrate this commitment.”  So whether you have a BlackBerry, or any other phone, as long as you’re on the T-Mobile network, you can make calls to Haiti and receive them absolutely free. Hit the jump for the full press release from T-Mobile including ways on how you can help.

It’s really exciting to see another Google product get more innovative on the BlackBerry platform.  We just spotted on the Google Mobile Blog that email and contacts browsing is now an option on the Google Mobile application.  Before some of you complain about it, this option can easily be turned on and off so it’s not mandatory for everyone. I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t want this luxury, but we had to put that out there incase.  We haven’t been playing with the application long enough, but so far we are impressed.

Before we get into anything, here’s Kodak’s official statement on the matter:

“‘Kodak has a long history of digital imaging innovation and we have invested hundreds of millions of dollars creating our industry-leading patent portfolio,’ said Laura G. Quatela, Chief Intellectual Property Officer, and Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company. ‘In the case of Apple and RIM, we’ve had discussions for years with both companies in an attempt to resolve this issue amicably, and we have not been able to reach a satisfactory agreement. In light of that, we are taking this action to ensure that we protect the interests of our shareholders and the existing licensees of our technology.

‘Our primary interest is not to disrupt the availability of any product but to obtain fair compensation for the use of our technology,’ Quatela said. ‘There’s a basic issue of fairness that needs to be addressed. Those devices use Kodak technology, and we are merely seeking compensation for the use of our technology in their products.’”

So the methods used to preview images on the iPhone and BlackBerry are an infringement says Kodak. Currently Kodak has licensed deals with other mobile phone makers such as LG, Samsung, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, and Motorola.  By the look of it, Kodak has been trying to come to some sort of agreement with the two, but have failed to come to a mutual agreement of any kind, which ended up leading to a lawsuit.

Themes »

Forgot all these other themes out there that have standard rows of icons with a little bit more color and shape to theme.  DeskBB literally transforms your BlackBerry into an office desk as you can see.  Twelve icons are locked and loaded on the home screen where you’ll then get two customizable icons out of them all.  DeskBB is only $1.99 til February 14 where it’ll then get bumped back up to $3.99.

  • Experience: What I really love about this theme besides the fact that the home screen gets a huge face lift, it’s the receiving call theme.  It’s as if you’re not even on a BlackBerry where you see an actual BlackBerry phone come up on the screen with the caller ID on it.  Very clever theme makers behind the scenes!
  • Compatibility: Bold 9000, Curve 8900
