Review: Fun Park Tycoon for BlackBerry
by Collin Sorp
As tweeted last night on @PocketBerry, I went ahead and downloaded Fun Park Tycoon for BlackBerry and promised to give you guys my input. In best hopes, you all know about Tycoon games and the game style so we don’t have to get into that. Fun Park Tycoon allows you to build a whole theme park and maintain every aspect of it. Feel free to build rides, arcades, benches, ice cream stands and much more. The thing that pissed me off was that the description of the game is completely wrong and advertises it as a pizzeria management game. Any way, to get back to the game, it is very addictive.
What I liked:
- The fact that the game isn’t locked and enables you to be free in your own theme park building everywhere and any where as you please is a huge plus. The variety of buildings and structures you can build are great so you won’t get bored making the same things over and over. I loved when rides got really hectic with maintenance and satisfaction rates low, pressuring you to service them as soon as possible. Throughout the game, there are bonus coins that appear on the screen that give you extra money. Those are really fun to chase. In addition, there’s gift boxes that appear also, but all of them seemed to be empty for me so far. I don’t know if I’ll get a legitimate gift box but am looking forward to it. Some of you may see this as a downfall, but when a ride isn’t stable enough, the ride commissioners end up fining you out of a lawsuit. Not that I enjoyed getting fined, but the fact that you hurt with the theme park makes it more real.
What I didn’t like:
- I’m using a BlackBerry Bold 9700. The resolution of the game is much too small, and my eyes legitimately hurt after 40 minutes of game play last night. The people walking around the park should appear clearer and not just as mini stick figures. Also they should be walking on right into the ride instead of all over the sidewalks.
Overall the game was great, and one must keep in mind that it is a mobile game so you can’t expect all that much. Fun Park Tycoon is only $4.99 over at the PocketBerry Store, which is really cheap considering that the game is that addictive and fun.
